Buying gifts for a 10 year old boy is hard. He's not into clothes. Has enough electronics. Dozens of basket/base/footballs. I'm at a loss. Recs?

Not that they won't get sick, but it is a relief to get the last kid to the age where they can tell you what's wrong when they're feeling bad.

Fevers suck. On one hand they are the sign that the body is actually doing its job, but on the other, it's frightening.

-Tips for a 1.5 year old ion a plane other than bring plenty to keep them distracted?
Prepare for a small crying fit shortly after take off and before landing. Not sure what your guy is drinking out of, but bring something so ears don't bother him too much.

Christmas list for my 2 year old daughter:

-Minnie Mouse Flashlight
-A few Disney puzzles which feature Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, etc.
-Some clothes

-Over the past month or so she has become absolutely obsessed with Mickey/Minnie Mouse. Anytime we go to a store she can point out any of the main characters from 30-40 yards and starts screaming "Mouse, mouse", " 'Onald, 'Onald", or " 'Oofey, Oofey". I'm guessing this original obsession came from daycare since we had never exposed her to any of those characters.

-Luckily, back in June we decided to spend the Holidays down in Saint Augustine with my Sister-In-Law which works out great for Dad due to the upcoming bowl game - which was my only gift request this year.

[banana]

-We recently closed on an older historic house here in Winchester and have been spending the past 3 weeks doing some renovations, so our new place won't have the same holiday spirit due to moving in this week and taking a vacation on the 21st...but, I have future visions of her running down the stairs early Christmas morning to see her presents and stocking goodies. Plus my wife is excited about the possibility of getting a 9ft tree in the future and displaying it prominently in the window. o_O

The 'bigger than 7.5 feet' tree phenomenon is baffling to me. Women, amirite?

Sorry. That should probably go in HUSBANDYERO

My wife and I have been in the process of planning to build our next house. In the process of planning because it's a real headache to find a floor plan we agree on AND a lot we agree on. There's just not much available in Jessamine county. There's a new neighborhood with plenty of lots for sale but it's sorta out in the country a little bit. I actually like that about it but she's worried about the curvy back roads when the kids start driving. Also, a 1 acre lot in jessamine county will run you about 60k. Cheaper than Lex, but still. We've looked at some decent 1 acre lots right across the river in Garrard county but not sure I want to live in a different county than we go to school/play sports/etc. Anyway, I say all that because I am planning on having a tall *** Christmas tree in one of the windows. Even been planning on how I want to decorate it with lights. I'm a basic white girl at heart.

I've always been a Scrooge at heart when it comes to Christmas, but I'm sure that will change each and every year as I see my little girl getting more and more excited for it. I'll give myself 2-3 more years before I'm All In on the big *** tree.

What kind of plan do you like? Single ranch, 1-1/2 story, elevated ceilings.

I have a ton in my office if it would help I'd shot you some pics.

If you don't mind a garage I got 4-5 simple easy plans you can have.

Also on our website we have several available too but those would cost you.

Speaking of Christmas, what's your top kids Christmas flicks? I'm gonna go
1. Home Alone
2. The Santa Clause
3. Muppet Christmas Carol
4. Polar Express
5. Toy Story (not technically Christmas I guess but they always play it on abc family this time of year)
196. The grinch (jim Carey). I really don't like this. Feels like Batman Forever. Just really lame.

I feel like Elf belongs in there, somewhere. Kids love the humor. (OR at least my kids do)

Also, movies that are NOT Christmas movies : Die Hard and Gremlins. I could give a damn that they are set at Christmas time.

I'm curious about something sports related.

Do any of you that have kids go to the "evil independent school" that everyone hates? Does the bad blood exist in your communities like it does here in Somerset vs. the county public schools?

I'm still kind of blown away over the childish antics that go on here. I won't clog this discussion thread with thoughts/opinions but I am curious if its the same level of "dumb" it is here exists in your neck of the woods.

We've got a daughter due in April whom'll be joining our 2 year old son -and that means daddy's FIAT Abarth has gotta go.

Now I'm in the market for a Dad-mobile and I want to go all in for a used wagon. But, Americans hate wagons so my options are limited. I think I'll end up with a Crosstour.

Bump since I'm an expecting dad now.

Anyone have recommendations for video monitors? Apparently the walkie talkies that have been used for the last 30 years aren't good enough and we need a wifi/bluetooth 4k dual screen monitor now.

Also, any other things we wouldn't think to register for since we've already gotten a lot of the obvious things.

2 weeks to go for me. We got a Samsung video monitor from one of my family members, seems cool. I'll let you know here in 2/3 weeks if its good or not. Getting pretty damn nervous and trying not to freak out.

Any of your kids play Lacrosse? For some unknown reason, my middle boy asked if he could play this season instead of baseball. Site says you have to have all equipment on your own. What all does that entail?

Decent spot for a dad to take a 1.5 year old this weekend? Preferably not a redneck haven.

Maybe little young, and the town is a ********, but put the US Air Force Museum in Dayton on your list. My kid loved it at 1.75 years old, so yours is probably about ready well.

Twins turned 13 in January. Life has become an utter nightmare. Enjoy age 2-12. Those were the best years of my life.

Constant bickering/bad language/pornhub/lies/ etc.

Blessed.
Ugh... I see it coming like a freight train... Gotta 12 year old slowly slipping from sweet innocent young man to lazy, smelly miscreant.

Gone are the days of sneaking a peak at the National Geographic or Sears catalog on the *******... now, iPads/phones instantanely bring HD Donkey shows to pre-pubescent bedrooms.

My 22 month old son loves talking about trucks all the time. Unfortunately he pronounced the "uhh" as more of an "ahh" and the "tr" sound as a hard "k"

Any other dadyero's droppin some paddock-level dollars at Disney right now? Lordy. Fun though. Will give a breakdown upon return. Krazy you slingin lumber down here?

Edit: quick note, of course we have been fast-passing m*********r's but that still doesn't stop you from looking at other fast passers with pure rage and disgust once you are out of your own fast passes. It's like being in the Politburo....

We had season passes last year. My wife said my favorite ride IS the actual fast pass. She's right.
