You guys (not all of you) are making a lot of (insulting) assumptions about their marriage and their character, all while asking "well, why didn't these women go to the police?"

You're proving exactly why. This woman said put her name behind an accusation and many of you have spent the last month impugning her character, dragging up old social media posts, calling her crazy, implying that they will get divorced, etc....

This is what happens in these cases. Every corner of their lives is subjected to intense, often bad faith, scrutiny in an attempt to discredit them. It's not worth it to a lot of women to go through that.

The initial response on here was actually really refreshing in the empathy many showed towards the alleged victims and SA survivors in general. It's disappointing that the mob has taken over.
I don't know Syd, Beau, or Carter, but I know people who know them. Everything I've heard from people who actually know Syd and Beau is positive and that they are wonderful people and a great couple. I think I'll pass on what I've heard about Carter (just general stuff, nothing specific to this thread)

Disappointing, sure, but not surprising, right? Doesn’t it always?

Wonderful people don't discuss the size of their private parts publicly. Sorry. There's a screw loose here.

Nobody is really cutting on the actual victims. Some are questioning if they actually exist. As of now, they don't exist. As far as their identities, I have no interest in having them exposed. They should remain anonymous until any legal action is taken. Carter is the only person with the right to face his accusers.

Most of us are cutting on the loudmouth social media influencer throwing around accusations with absolutely no known basis. It certainly appears that she is all about the attention and she could give 2 ***** about the actual victims.

Cael put together a massive statement addressing and refuting everything immediately after the Collegian article came out. The University would not sign off on releasing it which I'm sure did not sit well and continues not to sit well as these people are just taking free shots at him publicly. I will be pretty surprised if there are not lawsuits moving forward.
This is good internetting.

Everything here is an assumption and paints her in the worst light possible without actually knowing anything about what she knows or her motivations. It's exactly what I was talking about.

Just my .02 on Cael. His failure to report is truly unforgiveable and PSU has no choice but to let him go.

I respect Cael as a coach and a person. I believe this was an unfortunate mistake and that he's capable of reforming if he lands in the right place. I believe, with all my heart, that place is Iowa City, Iowa.

She is doing a great job of painting herself in the worst light possible. Nothing more than another unhinged piece of garbage influencer.

As Dice said, let me know when somebody over 25 gets involved. Or the legal system gets involved.

This is disingenuous.

The vast majority of the criticism has NOT been leveled at any victim (in fact, I'm not sure that there is any at the victim), but has been directed at Syd Bartlett. Who is not a victim in this AT ALL. Unless you consider her as an adjunct victim to Beau in terms of the theft (shared property now, although I don't think they were married when the theft allegedy occurred).

I'll agree that a couple of these criticisms may be over the line, and I'm not going to participate in ripping a guy for his choice in women (something that I've made mistakes in my life as well). But that has nothing to do with any victim.

If you are going to try to act like Syd Bartlett's social media activity over the past couple of months has been consistent with someone who should be taken seriously - well, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are being disingenuous, because you can't actually think otherwise, can you?

I was thinking about an actual response to you on this JS, but then realized this was another one of your satire posts. Thanks for the chuckle.

My opinion, for what it is worth, if a statement is released, that will add fuel to a smoldering fire of news.

I actually think Penn State would be smart to keep it until it is needed.
Hi Ernie Ladd!

My commentary is about how we use message boards and the internet.

Posting "so and so said something about this topic somewhere else" and clicking the Post Reply button is terrible internetting. May as well type & post: "I heard it might be raining in London".

Posting the actual content of "something about this topic" with actual quote marks = better internetting; at least the readers of our post don't have to:
1. guess as to the actual words
2. go looking for the words being referred to, which leads us to ...

Posting the actual words, in quotes AND also posting the URL viewers can click to see the original source of both the "so & so" and the "something about this topic" = the best internetting.

Thanks for reading my commentary on others' commentary styles. I'm scared of becoming a pedantic icehole, but still feel it's worth trying at least one attempt every once in awhile to improve how we use the internet. See you round the tubes again soon! --jp

Really? Beau gave arguably more to the team than anyone. He wrestled up a weight for the team, not himself. Your take is really bad. He's a major part of 4 National Championships.
In the big moments, he often came up small. Not saying he’s not a good teammate. I never thought “wish he would shoot more” about anyone as much as BB. And, ps, he wrestled up because he could not beat Nick

You nailed my feelings exactly. I love when people preach social justice to me and then their next video talks about how wide their ****** is. I guess the word v-gina isn’t allowed.

I didn't say she was a direct victim, but she put her name and reputation on the line and has been subject to considerable harassment.

In regards to her social media activity, Zoomers have much different sensibilities about that stuff. There's a generational difference there. Not liking it is totally reasonable, but nothing I've seen posted here discredits her. It's fairly normal for her age group to post like that. That post has 30k likes. We're not the intended audience. She's a pretty run of the mill Zoomer tik-toker.

A lot of TokTok content is dumb but harmless. But if she's a witness at a rape trial or a defamation hearing, the audience of 12 and/or the judge may be less amused than her online target audience.

Not trying to overstate its value or anything, but Syd has over 1 million tiktok followers. Even Carter’s social media reach pales in comparison.
I hear you Nerf. That says more about her followers than it does Syd. Trying to understand who would follow that hot mess but I guess it works in that generation.

Yeah, and that's a moral failure of the jury and judge, not her.

Don't judge a book by its cover. We're supposed to know that's wrong and yet, you're using it as your main justification.

Lol. When you make your life an open book, what cover?
I think you're under the illusion that just because you can see her public persona on social media, that means you actually know her. A common mistake older people make in the era of the internet.

Finally got the page to work and got registered. There was a post on Mineo's facebook group page yesterday that said (and I'm paraphrasing), more information is going to drop soon that will not be good. It was posted anonymously so it could be a troll job, or it could truth. We shall find out.

The link JoeBagobagels gave goes to the page Brantt's post appears on, but not the specific post. You have to scroll down the page to find the post. I have never been able to successfully link even to an original page like JoeBagobagels did. Is linking to the page the best that can be done or is it possible to link to the specific post? Also, does the technique change if you are quoting a post from a different forum than the one you are posting to? TIA!
