I drink around a gallon a day and only drink water. A bad case of kidney stones a couple of years ago stopped me from drinking cokes or other drinks.

Six months ago, my doctor added a "water pill" to my BP med. It makes me pee a lot and I'm thirsty all the time. Now I drink about 100 ounces a day and searching for a bathroom everywhere I go. Think I'll quit taking the water pill.

how much water do you/should you drink a day?

There are a bunch of overweight women at work who are trying to drink a gallon of water a day to help them lose weight. I assume it's to suppress their appetite but a gallon seems like a little much.

8 glasses of 8oz of water is what I have read is suggested by most. I would guess I get close or a little more than that every day.

I'm a heavy water drinker, take in probably about a gallon a day most days. Saw all the women on facebook starting the "challenge" after New Years as well.

They think drinking a gallon of water covers up that full order of chocolate gravy and biscuit and a side of potatoes for breakfast, double serving of lunch, numerous snacks and candy bars throughout the day, and finally the "healthy" supper of Mac and cheese, fried apples, pork chop, and mashed potatoes

Yeah I think part of the point of the gallon of water thing is supposed to be to cut hunger but not sure it does that. But if you drink that much water you've got no room left for sodas and other crap,so it should be of some benefit.

Ive managed to lose over 60 pounds with exercise and drinking a ton of water. My other guilty pleasure is ice tea no lemon no sugar. I drink the **** out of that. I don't drink soft drinks hardly at all maybe once a week Coke Zero usually, but I'll have a Coke or Pepsi from time to time. 30 pounds to go.

Plus when I have to give a drug test my urine doesn't look diluted thanks to the tea.

I have to drink anywhere form 96-100 ounces of water a day in order to prevent kidney stone formation. The first thing I do in the morning after getting up is drink about 20 ounces of water. During the day I try to drink a 17 ounce bottle every couple of hours. Sucks that it makes you run to bathroom every hour but it's better than having another kidney stone.

<-- 44 oz. water. Includes 16 oz. after morning bike ride to work. 12 oz. sparkling water during lunch after 1-mile walk, and 16 oz following bike ride home. Additionally consume 32 oz. hot tea mornings and 16 oz iced tea with dinner.

Total = 92 oz. normal liquid intake daily, except weekends, holidays.

Water for gay people. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but apparently they wanted a type of water that would absolutely identify them from everyone else so that they might hook up like rabbits in musk. They say most of them average about 3 sexual encounters for every ounce of sparkling water they drink. It apparently is an ironclad sign that you are looking for mannuts. Particularly if you are flashing it around like for example drinking it while you are walking. That's like a neon "do me in the men's bathroom in the park" sort of thing. I bet they're in there right now. Going at it.

If you were riding a bicycle and flashing it around... my goodness... you'd have a rear end that looks like a tire swing. Front teeth poking straight out like a child that had sucked on the teet until they were 25. I hope nobody is dumb enough to do that.

Not that there's anything wrong with it.

People in my family have had stones, I'm hoping lots of water intake helps prevent me from getting them.

But I also just find I feel better when I'm well hydrated. Sure I'm headed to the bathroom a lot but I don't really care. Excuse to get up from my desk for a minute.

1-2 gallons a day for me. Like @JasonSpear said though, I'm very active. Plus, I don't drink anything other than water besides milk, kombucha or Suja veggie drinks. Just drink a bunch of it. It's not like you're going to overdo it. Cokes are disgusting anyway.

Are there any advantages to sparkling water? Taste?
Advantages: Helps digestion of food. Carbonation contained therein acts as a refresher.

Taste is like regular water unless drinking a flavored variety, which I avoid.

Naturally carbonated water seems best, in my opinion. San Pellegrino, Perrier, Gerolsteiner and Hassia rank among my faves. Best domestic is Canada Dry Sparkling, non-flavored. Medium carbonation. Kroger back in KY usually offers some deals on their store-brand waters. Start with non-flavored and perhaps try some others.

actually you CAN die of over hydration. It's called cell lysis. Probably not gonna happen, but it's possible. Can't imagine the insane amounts of fluid intake without out put you'd have to endure before it ever happened.
 Yes this is true. But it's not like that's going to happen to anyone on here unless they are trying to kill themselves in the most stupid way possible. Hence why I didn't add an asterisk and say, "Technically it is possible for you to die of water consumption if you attempt to drink 4+ gallons an hour all day long."

I mean, you can die from vitamin C overdose but if someone posted, "how much vitamin C should I take?" And I said a bunch, take like 1-2000 mgs/day, I wouldn't expect someone was going to hop on over to the grocery store and take an entire bottle that day.

But yes Jason, thank you for the info on water murdering yourself.

Sorry Z, just trying to inspire people to not be gross and fat like you. Nothing like watching people drown in their own lard as they pass into the next world.

This is why I can't drink it in huge quantities. That "belly full-o-water" feeling... bloated, slow and sloshing and still feel empty and hungry. Like a water balloon. I liken it to that feeling you get late in the afternoon before dinner, when you skipped breakfast that day and your lunch was just a package of cheese crackers out of a machine.

I like that green tea has enough of an aftertaste to remind me when to stop.

:rolleyes:[eyeroll][eyeroll]:cool2::eek:[thumb2]:scream::burger:I wasn't trying to be a smartass or a dick. I was being informative, a "the more you know" moment of sorts. From your posts in GYERO I just assumed you were a raging retard and was trying to help, but alas, feel free to go **** yourself in the most painful and degrading way possible.

My apologies Jason, I shouldn't have read it as you being a smartass nor should I have been an *** back to you. I took it as you saying people might die from drinking too much water because they read about it on the Paddock (which is a possibility with some of the posters on here). I think you're spot on with most of your health takes to be fair and I think we both are pretty into that field.

I guess I'll go hop in a pilonidal cyst a suffocate now.

I definitely understand about running to the bathroom a lot, however, it's better than having a stone. I spent two days in the hospital a couple of years ago from a kidney stone that I couldn't pass. Never had such intense pain in my life. There are different kinds of stones and mine was what is called an "Oxalate stone", meaning that certain foods with a high count in oxalate combined with calcium to form a kidney stone. These types of stones are related to foods high in oxalate. I have a laundry list of things I can't eat now. There are various types of foods that are supposed to be healthy but they can cause stones; beets, rhubarb, spinach, kale, almonds, strawberries, raspberries, black tea, pepper and peanut butter. Any chips, potatoes or crackers are also off limits. Mine was actually caused by drinking black tea daily, which is supposed to be a body cleanser. If you have a family history of stones I would strongly recommend that you see a urologist and get on a kidney stone prevention plan because you sure don't want to spend days in the hospital.

[laughing] No.

Most diet sodas contain aspartame and it's the 3rd most ingredient in 12, 20, etc oz bottles. The water flavorings I use contain sucralose and it's the 6th most ingredient in a 1.6oz bottle of which roughly 3% of that 1.6oz gets used each time being as how I can usually get 30 32oz bottles worth... coming to one twentieth of a single ounce each time I use it.

Work on stretching that arm so you can reach a little farther. You'll get there.
Ok. You literally just described watered down diet soda.

The third ingredient is propylene glycol, a preservative, thickening agent, and stabilizer, also used as antifreeze to de-ice airplanes, as a plasticizer to make polyester resins, and found in electronic cigarettes.

It also contains acesulfame potassium (aka Ace-K) One of the chemicals found in Ace-K is the carcinogen methylene chloride. There is evidence that long-term exposure to methylene chloride is linked to visual disturbances, headaches, depression, liver effects, nausea, mental confusion, kidney effects and cancers in humans.

"watered down diet soda" suggests there's more soda still than water. What "water flavorings" produce is "water"... with a small hint of "flavor". Not quite consistent with your chosen description.

Concepts.

Besides, those things you mentioned have nothing to do with diet soda.
Well soda's main ingredient is water. I get what you are saying, you can control how much you put in and that makes it healthier. It's still just watered down soda.

please don't stop. I'm bored.
Mio liquid is concentrated diet soda. Not sure how you thing squirting concentrated diet soda into water makes it something other than diet soda. I understand that you like it and you've convinced yourself that your just drinking water so you can pay yourself on you back but it's still diet soda.

good thing I don't buy that brand then and just used that picture as an example since it's the first thing that popped up on a Google search that was a decent pic of water flavoring... I'm betting since it's likely the most popular brand. That's it.

Never drank Mio in my life. Shew wee. Dodged a bullet there.

Just woke up my wife to tell her I'm not gonna get cancer now from the water flavoring I drink, contrary to the report I supplied her with just a few minutes ago.
Never mind. Go ahead you do you. I've never seen anyone get so defensive over a little kidding about the facts.
