I just don't remember seeing HC's fired so early in the season.
Nebraska - Scott Frost
Arizona St - Herm Edwards (merciful)
Geoff Edwards - Ga Tech
Karl Dorell - Colorado
Paul Chryst- Wisconsin. I was really surprised at this one.

I am also surprised at this many being fired this early in the season. Is there really an advantage to a coaching search with an interim coach vs a dead man walking coach?

Mayne if you're seriously evaluating the interim.

Depends. Didn't work out so good for us when SOS announced his retirement though I think he thought it was giving us an early opportunity to go looking for a replacement. Too bad the 2 we targeted jumped on what they perceived as better opportunities. Where it worked out for us when Muschamp was released remains to be seen. Finding 5 coaches best fitted for the openings available will be dicey whether the school is doing it now or later.

Ga Tech also fired their AD as well. Which appears to be well justified. Their athletics as whole as diminished substantially.
Despite high academic standards there is no reason that they can not be competitive in football, and that certainly should not be a major deterrent for the mens BB program.

Auburn's coach is hanging by a thread.

Welcome to the new normal particularly when considering recruiting implications based on association with a coach rumored to not be around for the recruiting cycle.

Chump change compared to Jimbo's $95M buyout. I'll take that one.
TAMU looks to have overplayed their hand on this one. Jimbo will be owed a lot of money, and for that reason TAMU is going to have to hold on as long as possible. Will be interesting to see how long they are willing to give Jimbo the benefit of the doubt.

I would settle for being a former football coach. I could lose as many games as Frost, Muschamp, and others for a lot less than their buyouts.
Don't forget all the assistant coaches get paid off as well.

Chryst is taking a negotiated lower buyout. Will receive 11M to be paid in full by 2/1/23.

He was 67-26. 72% games won up to his firing.

What I'm hearing that although he was 52-16 in his first 5 years, since 2020 they were 15-10 in B1G 10 play, and certainly not competing for the B1G championship lately. Apparently that was unsuitable for the fan base, and the administration.

Yeah. It shows me if you aren't winning hardware your future is at risk.

Corporate America and college football........the two only places where you can get promoted past your level of competency, set your organization back 10 years and walk away with a crap pile of money.
You left out tenured college professors:)

That’s what the dumb asses get for giving him such a long contract. Kind of like trying to lock up Muschamp after one good season.

He's a dead man walking. He'd have to pull the biggest rabbit out of the hat in the history of the world - other than the Resurrection - to keep his job. But he could wind up in the Mountain Time Zone - where he belongs - coaching again. The is is less about being a bad coach than it it is about being at a place where he doesn't fit.

Yep, all about the money at this point.
