Walk in two runs.
Error for two runs.

Not everyone is on the same page.

Long, long way to go to have a decent team. Right now, we look like the Keystone Cops.

Arkansas is #3 in the country. It will take a few years for Mainieri to clean up Kingston's mess

And Kingston was hired to clean up Holbrook's mess . . . it's gonna take a while for fix.
Why does it seem whenever we make a new HC hire, they are given the task of "cleaning up the prior regimes mess",
The assured by product being the mantra "He just needs more time"

We have a brand new coaching staff and pretty much a brand new team, very little pitching or hitting depth. Tippet played nearly every game last year and this year he has been replaced, that tells me all I need to know!

This is not going to be an overnight fix. I suggest you get used to it for this year and probably next or you might want avert your eyes.

I'm can only hope for the Bad News Bears, they got better throughout the year and made a run for a trophy!

Crap hires (the majority of Tanner's hires in all sports were bad) before Maineiri have pushed the baseball program further and further back. I remember ten years ago hearing clowns like Kornblut (back when I listened to his show) calling Carolina fans unrealistic and spoiled for expecting Holbrook to get us to Omaha every season. Fast forward a decade later and we are lucky to be considered the third best team in the state, Omaha is a pipedream and making the NCAA tournament (something we did every season for many consecutive years) is a crapshoot at best.

If it takes years to get right, you don't hire a 67 year old. I'm not calling for his head.

Maineiri is a great coach, but times change. He will get a couple of years, but he has to produce.

We shouldn't be this bad.

It is not realistic to expect to get to Omaha every year. It is realistic to expect to dance every year, host most of the time, and make it to Omaha at least once every few years.

Yes, it has been too long since we've been to Omaha, I think it realistic that we should have made it at least once or twice since our last visit.

I don't think our fans really expected to get to Omaha every season ten years ago, but they did expect to make the NCAA's-which is obviously a struggle today. The irony of it all is Tanner is the reason we have two national titles in baseball and also the reason why we haven't come close since.

Everybody wants a coach like a microwave. Finished in 5 minutes
When you hire a 67 year old coach that's kinda the statement being made...you don't hire a guy like that if you're looking at a 3 year rebuild.

Expecting Omaha ever year is unrealistic. But the bottom falling out of the program that once was the university's crown jewel is embarrassing.

As previously stated, I don't think the fans really expected to make Omaha every season (I certainly didn't) but making the NCAA's should be an expectation where the previous staffs have fallen short. Also, it's been 13 years since we were in Omaha. With our tradition you would expect us to make it once or twice a decade at least but poor coaching hires have pushed back that timeframe. From '02-'12, we made Omaha 6 times. That percentage was probably not sustainable but no Omaha for 13 years after is very frustrating.

Agreed that the ability to dance is struggling.

It is ironic re: Tanner. Again, the Holbrook hire looked to be great at the time of hiring. The Kingston hire felt rather lackluster at that time, and never really got better.

We all hope Manieri can get it together, and recruit like h3ll.

There are 300 D1 baseball programs, 64 are in the NCAA tournament each year, 8 go to Omaha. Here is a list showing what teams have been to Omaha the most. Carolina is tied for 11th place (behind Clemson and UNC). Going to Omaha isn't exactly a Carolina birthright. '02-'12 spoiled a whole lot of fans and set some unrealistic expectations.
  • Texas: 38
  • Miami (Fla.): 25
  • Florida State: 24
  • Arizona State: 22
  • USC: 21
  • Oklahoma State: 20
  • LSU, Stanford: 19
  • Arizona, Cal State Fullerton: 18
  • Florida: 14
  • Clemson, Mississippi State, North Carolina: 12
  • Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina: 11
  • Northern Colorado: 10
  • Michigan, Texas A&M: 8
  • Maine, Oregon State, Rice, Tennessee, Virginia, Wichita State: 7
  • Auburn, Cal, Georgia, Missouri, Ole Miss, St. John's, TCU, Western Michigan: 6
  • Alabama, Louisville, Minnesota, Penn State, Southern Illinois, UCLA, UConn, Vanderbilt: 5

In all fairness to your list, I haven't seen much of 6 of the top 7 in Omaha in a long time! Which tells me times have changed and it ain't so easy to get there!

Carolina ’birthright’ is more whining about what isn’t than taking the time to experience what is. Granted this year’s baseball season looks gloomy at this point, but somewhere along the line we declared ourselves the Alabama of baseball and thus entitled to championships by virtue of our name alone. There’s one guy on here who likes to refer to us as a league ‘laughing stock’; any such regard is due more so to a pompous fan base than to team results.

I think you meant that it's Southern Cal with 21 Trips to Omaha, not USC.
