So far, in three years' time, Venables has had recruiting classes that ranked 8th in 2022, 6th in 2023 and as of today for the 2024 class, ranked 5th.....by the Rivals rankings.
All of which does not include some very good players from the transfer portal.
Most impressive to me is how the defense of this year's team has shown substantial improvement with many young players making their mark.
Granted the real worth of this defense likely won't be known until the Texas game, but there is still a dramatic level of improvement even in the face of an easy schedule through the first three games.
And so far, there are 4 teams with 3-0 records today that OU will face this season: ,Texas, Kansas, BYU, and UCF, so we should have a much better perspective of OU's readiness for its first season in the SEC in 2024.
