If you ask me, H-F in a virtual tie for 2nd in the DSR is more the result of reputation than SOS.
That's why I had them 4th
Interestingly, there's only 1 team in the DSR top 10 (H-F) that has actually beaten another team in the DSR top 10 (LWE). Based on that fact alone, it would seem that someone is full of crap to suggest that H-F's ranking is "more the result of reputation than SOS."
Similarly, ranking H-F 4th, behind BR, is equally curious from the perspective of SOS. Rice's "signature win" would seemingly be against Marist, who is 3-1. But Marist's 3-1 record pales in comparison to LWE's 3-1 record (with H-F's "signature win" being against LWE).
Indeed, H-F's
second most meaningful win was against Lockport on the road. And frankly, based on their respective schedules to date, Lockport is more comparable to Marist (
i.e., the opponent for BR's signature win). Yet, H-F seemingly gets no credit from the Rambler or from the Almighty's dad for convincingly beating Lockport on the road, while BR is apparently exalted for beating Marist.
It sure looks like the Rambler and the Almighty's old man didn't let the facts get in the way of a good story.
It seems to me that H-F is appropriately ranked in a virtual tie for 2nd in the DSR, based upon H-F's actual accomplishments at this point in time of this particular season. Maybe as additional games pile up, and H-F plays the easier portion of its conference schedule, that may change (if other teams win games against more difficult opponents). But for now, H-F should be right with ESL at #2.
