Any team can use some of that overwhelming NBA talent (we just dont want a team full of inexperience). No idea if Peterson is that guy, but get him $2mil and find out. It's probably the only thing left I need to see from Pope in terms of off-season work: landing an elite talent player. Make it happen, let him be 1AD if he wants, and it might open the door for other top25 recruits.

Pope having a potential superstar could be deadly. He got a bunch of Mormons to compete in the big12. Do whatever you can to land this guy.

Parachoial schools win a lot of championships, especially in highschool football.
It's the competitive nature that matters.

I find it interesting that a adidas kid only has one adidas school in his final group of 5-6 teams
Because it doesn't really matter that much?

We make way more out of it than we should. Might affect a kid here or there but not like many think.

For the most part yeah, but I think his dad is heavy with adidas. I guess that’s why Kansas is the favorite

Wouldn't that be huge if he were to commit to Kentucky. Alvin Brooks has some recruiting ties with Peterson while going after him at Baylor.

This x1000.

You take freshman Mashburn when he's surrounded by The Unforgettables.

You take freshman Davis when he's surrounded by vets like Miller, Jones, and Lamb.

You take freshman Wall when he's got a senior like Patrick Patterson showing him the way.

You just don't take five freshmen Kahlil Whitneys and depend solely on them to figure it out in six months.

That was the issue with Cal. I'm glad to know it will never be an issue with Pope.

Reading on Darryn Peterson, he sounds like what DJ Wagner was supposed to be coming out of high school. Would that be a decent comparison?

Not the Wagner we saw, but the expectation.

His Adidas contract ends in June.
Pope needs to call Nike and convince them to make Peterson a viable offer.

Nike's done jacksh*t for us since the Phil Knight tourney drama and their treating Duke like the favored son.

Pope should ask them if they want UK to be a part of their future. If not, I'm sure Adidas would love to get a call from Kentucky.

You frame it like that, and make Nike actually do something for once in order to help one of their flagship basketball universities.

It will be interesting to see if Pope can get a team full of players to bond, without the common bond of Mormonism. I sure he can get everyone to buy-in and be willing to sacrifice and share minutes. GO CATS !!!

At the same stage of their high school careers, definitely; I'd say that's fair.

The issue with DJ is that he dominated his opponents physically early on, but didn't really progress once they collectively caught up to him from a physical standpoint.

Peterson is constantly getting better. If high school kids could get drafted straight out of school, he's be a top 10 pick. He's right there with Dysbantsa in terms of ability.

I don't any kid is worth 2 million playing CBB. Just Stupid to even think about someone getting paid that much to play CBB. Soldiers fighting on the front line don't get much to fight.

Anthony Davis makes $60M. Adjust your expectation. I personally couldn’t care less what some billionaire coal baron spends his money on.

Peterson is worth $2 million in the modern NIL market.

He's Ron Mercer level. So is Dybantsa. You pay one of those guys to come here and surround them with guys like Chandler, Garrison, Perry, and Jasper Johnson.

You remember Brandon Roy. Peterson kinda moves like him and can get to his spots like Roy did before his knee injuries

I agree mostly except with Wall. He didn’t need anyone to show him the way although PPat was a great player and even better person. Wall was a the absolute leader from day 1 he stepped on campus.

The market determines worth not our preferences.

Subjectively, some might argue that a college player isn't worth a cent beyond their scholarship but the world doesn't work that way.

Yeah, the military pays rather poorly. No point in sweating that because the assistant manager at McDonalds also makes more than a grunt.

I certainly don't know the NIL market, so I'll take your word on his value. But I'm just wondering if Peterson is worth $2M what would a returning college All-American be worth?

Mormons have a history of being mean SOB. Murders and the like.
