Baylor decided years ago in 2008 that they would get talented players “by any means necessary” in both sports and it has paid off to the tune of Rutgers-south becoming the 2nd best football program in the conference after only OU and a National Champion men’s and women’s basketball program.

In case there was any doubt about what we need to do to compete… get the damned players, and it won’t matter who the coach is!

He inherited a great starting point left over by Matt Rhule who did have to fix a mess left by Briles. However he has done great with what he does have. But lastly to your point of "get the damned players", look at Texas and players they get. A good coaching staff is more important than great talent. You can take the most talented group of 18-22 year old guys and still fail without disciplined guidance. The most ideal roster of players with an average coach is worthless compared to an average roster with an exceptional coach.

Baylor wants a winning football team..WVU hired Kneel Brown.

If Kneel is lucky he will be a wide receivers coach at Baylor in a few years, or reviewing film for free at Oklahoma while driving Uber 60 hrs a week.

Larry Coker, Gene Chizik, and Ed Orgeron all disagree.

Texas is currently 4th fiddle to Baylor, OU, and A&M… lol what players do they get? They haven’t had a player picked in the 1st round since 2015. I don’t care how much money they are sitting on, they are either incapable of scouting or not willing to go the extra mile Baylor is to win the better talent.

What does that mean? They’ve seen high level success across 3 coaching staffs. They won a national title with Scott effing Drew, it’s about players and Baylor the institution decided to get them. Our institution needs to look in the mirror and ask if we want to “go there”.

Larry Coker is an example of my point. He inherited a team from Davis that was ready to win. They did his first year and steadily declined despite having great recruiting classes. Texas gets great recruiting classes, but have lacked a decent coach to use that talent. You will have more success as a college football program with a elite coaching staff and above average recruits than elite recruits and an above average coaching staff. Exceptions exist, but they do not disprove the rule.

So West Virginia has state full of the same amount of P5 type players? Interesting.

Aranda 10 seniors on 2 deep for Baylor offense, 10 seniors on 2 deep for defense and 4 seniors on special teams depth chart.

10 grad players
19 seniors
18 juniors

Good thing he was ranked 15th in recruiting this year. Wonder if he can win 11 games with his own players?

Dont throw facts at them Allen....if Coach A did it somewhere else then by god Neal should do it here.

They truly don't get every situation is different....as you provided the facts that Baylor was in better shape to win.

And thanks turdboy for the quick reply, you replied to my first post in days here in seven minutes, and the queenie like of it...never change who you guys are around here.

Spare me this excuse, we are in the same region of the country as tOSU, PSU, Pitt, UC, and VT none of whom have had trouble fielding competitive teams. Even our poor little selves have managed to find some talent. The school is physically 15 mins from the PA border, please don’t act like we are asking players to come to play for Siberia University.

Yeah and all of those players are lining up to come to WVU first. Take your false BS of this being an excuse and blow it out your ***.

Baylor 29 seniors 10 of those on offense 2 deep and 10 on defense 2 deep.

Tell me again why he had a good year?

maybe the cupboard was bare like the Kneel clowns like to proclaim.
What do you mean --MAYBE? Open your eyes to reality and recognize what the facts and history of the program as DH was departing. Lack if recruiting left the cupboard with very limited contents. Takes some time to re-establish and build a PRoGRAM. So many want instant rewards wit no consideration as to what there was to work with to accomplish what those unrealistic folks have 'demanded'.
Baylor left more than an adequately stocked squad. They had a great number of conflict problems that need or needed addressing, but they had a stockpile of quite capable players the former scum bags purchased or, otherwise, 'lured' to Waco. Not at all the same as what NB inherited at WVU.

Stop acting like Baylor is some flash in the pan. Since they made the commitment to winning and hired Briles they have had a Heisman winner, 3 conference titles, 5 10 win seasons, and if it wasn’t for the rape scandal that forced them to reset (justified BTW) I would imagine those numbers would have been higher. Since then they have shoved Texas in a locker and have been dunking on them routinely. If Baylor can do that to Texas we can do it to PSU.

expecting excellent would be a nice change of thought for Mountaineer nation instead of jumping for joy at 6-6.

Baylor was a weird team this year. Finished 6-7
Got pushed around badly by Air Force Academy in the bowl game. Sharpen had a QBR of 22.6 last night. But they did beat Albany and Texas State
Strange year in Waco indeed

Baylor sucked this year.

How's that great hire Vault? Looks like Aranda failed year 3 with his own players. Even lost to WVU.

Baylor year 3 of Aranda
2-7
11-2
6-7

total 19-16

This was a bad year for him and it's still better than Kneel.
