He's great. My gut is he won't leave NC State for Nebraska, at this point...just call it a hunch, but I'd take him
He is building a hell of a program at NC State. Nothing but respect for him. If he has a passion for Nebraska football (given that we don't get Frost after Riley), then definitely throw him in the mix. If he doesn't, as Mike Ditka always said, "Next!"
He was on the "hot seat" before the season. He's having a good season (the previous few, not so much) and is a decent coach overall. I just think we should have better options than him even if Nebraska isn't a premier job right now. A lot of our fans would have to "google" him to even know who he is. We just got done doing that 3 years ago.
why are we considering a new head coach when the one we have is still here. who is to say that the AD doesn't give him another year. we have him already fired and the season isn't over yet. this speculation doesn't help anything, the recruits see this and say 'O **** the coaches that are recruiting me are going to be canned' and start looking elsewhere. this is not good in any sense for anybody
We're going to be giving somebody millions and millions and millions, and they'll collect that money regardless if they succeed or fail, so yes, there will be plenty of interest in this job. Will it be a proven winner who has options? We'll see.
I'm for anyone who wants to bring a tough, physical brand of football with tough, physical players back to Lincoln.
If there's one thing that the last 15 years should have taught us, it's that we don't need a "Wow" hire, NFL experience, or to win the press conference! Those terms have been thrown around a lot over the years and that ain't Husker football.
I think 3-4....18-15 is having much more impact on the recruits than our speculation. Heck for all we know there are recruits considering Nebraska but don't like Riley.
The up and coming coach Nebraska better give a long look at if they do fire Riley is Campbell. This guy is doing some great things at a hell hole is only 37 years old. He's also making less than 2 million a year I believe. He's already coaching in the area too, so no BS about would he fit.
I've yet to see Gary Pattersons name come up. The style of football TCU plays especially the defense I think would go over really well in Lincoln
