I'm not in the camp who thinks Frost is some sort of lock, this is more likely than us having a lock.

KU still has a football team? Really?? I thought another former Husker QB/PopeTractorus II shut down the KU program and took up with the ghost of Jerry Falwell.

Well, he is about the same as Gill was at Kansas...

And Gill is a former Husker...

Might as well hire Gill for the same reason!

Good. His teams play hard and he coaches with some passion. It may come to the surprise of some DB posters, but he would have been a better choice than HCMR.

If we want to be clever, let's talk about hiring Charlie Weis.

It does point out that some of the issues Gill ran into are Kansas issues not coaching issues......

The OP is just messing around, lighten up folks. He's basically implying the same thing that Eichorst did to our lovely program when he hired Riley.

I'm an old old old timer. We should hire Clyde Beatty. Great animal trainer but I don't know how this could relate to football trainers.

Anyone else remember him?

Yeah, he's about to get fired from Kansas. But that's because they don't have the facilities, money, support, etc. He would be as good as Saban if he were at Nebraska with all of our BiG TeN money, fan support, tradition, etc etc

Now why would you wish this ill on all these fine people?

KU realizes it is going to take time to turn it around. Beatty was left with worst roster management than Riley inherited. KU only had something like 38 scholarship players and a bunch of them were not good. Much like us Walk-Ons played right away. Appears Beatty is going to get at least 1 more year if not 2. Whether or not he lands the "Louisianimals" might play into it. He ahs some very highly rated commits from Louisiana that if they sign could be difference makers. Honestly I am surprised he ahsn't recruited Nebraska more to compete with Iowa, Ohio and Wyoming for some of our local talent. FYI,usker Grad-Transfer Hannon played quite a few minutes for the Jayhawks this year. But they do have 3 players who are contemplating going to the NFL a year early, if that happens it will really hurt. Can't believe we didn't go after Joe Dineen jr, he's one heck of a linebacker and would have been a star for us. kid is an amazing athlete plus has a bunch of younger brothers that are great hardnosed football players. The youngest one Jet might turn out to be the best of the lot. KU built a pipeline with them

Kansas has issues that will likely take years to fix still (long after Beaty’s time). I don’t have the time or energy to go over all that troubles Kansas football, but they far outnumber just scholarship issues.

Wise and Armstrong could likely enter early into the draft.

The Dineen boys are really good football players and come from a family of athletes. KU is fortunate they are from Lawrence and real KU people.

where is mangino...that guy might be the best football coach in the world....took kansas to #2.
I'd take him as an assistant, but I think he just signed a contract with CBS to make some more "Cannon" shows.

Honestly he should be in jail and the only reason he isn't is because he was the coach of Kansas. He had some serious off field legal incidents that KU was able to keep quiet. Was not popular with his players, the administration, boosters or the Asst Coaches but he knew how to win at a school like KU so many of his indiscretions were overlooked for years but finally they had to get rid of him.

Joe jr might be entering the NFL draft this year. Huskers could have been in the hunt for Joe Dineen jr if they wanted to but Pelini had no interest. Weis did a great snow job on the Dineen family. After Joe had committed to KU he convinced them that he didn't need to go to the summer football camps. He would have tested extremely well and drawn all kinds of interest.

His dad played TE at Prep for only his SR year and still earned a scholarship to South Dakota where he played for one year before transferring to KU and not playing football. I might add Jeff Jamrog was on staff at South Dakota when Joe SR played there. Joe SR is a freak athlete and still jacked, looks like he could still strap them up. Joe jr's cousin was on the Huskers at the time plus his dads parents and step parents are huge Husker fans. I realize Jody's family, Joe SR's wife, is KU legacy and she played volleyball there but at the time a Husker offer might have been enough to sway him. There were lots of discussions on the Husker boards as to why were weren't offering him. The Dineen half of the family in Omaha really wanted him to play for the Huskers but Pelini wouldn't offer so was a mute point.

If he was skinny and at Alabama I think he'd still be coaching.
