Does Bo even have an agent anymore? There is no world where Pelini comes back. If he did - I could see him doing worse than LsU time just to stick it to UNL again![]()

The only time Bo had great defense is when he had great DT like Glenn Dorsey and suh and we def donāt have any of thoseThere is no world where Pelini comes back. If he did - I could see him doing worse than LsU time just to stick it to UNL again![]()
Talk about bad Run Defenses... I still have PTSD of Melvin Gordon running all over his defenseThe only time Bo had great defense is when he had great DT like Glenn Dorsey and suh and we def donāt have any of those
Bo's defense did not work against quality Big 10 teams and he was too stubborn to change.that's not the way Bo rolls, but I agree, he likely has zero interest in it.. but he does fit the bill as far as developing guys. I'm not sure Bo would run another scheme though, as he had problems with defending the run for a couple years as well.
That video also has some good information on why Rhule may already know who he is going after, but can't say anything because the next guy is probably prepping for a bowl or maybe the playoff.
It was interesting that the press asked Rhule if he needed any help with the hire, and Rhule kind of poo poo'd that idea real quick, so he's not about to take suggestions it seems on the defensive side of the ball.
I mean D3 is probably lower competition level than I faced in high school. So impressive record, but not really that impressive.Weird that he would go from being a very successful HC to a DC. Wonder why no one took a chance on him at HC.
It does.Nobody has hired Bo Pelini for the last 5 years, I think that speaks volumes.
or Rhule can't announce anything until after playoffs or bowl gameWe seem to be taking our time with this hire. Itās a very important one for Rhuleās future here.
I doubt anyone is seriously considering him. His defensive schemes were already outdated by the time we got to the B1G.Nobody has hired Bo Pelini for the last 5 years, I think that speaks volumes.
his defense did have problems later in the career, but remember they were trying to mold him into being more of a HC and he had to give up the defensive play calling and such his last few years.. and it showed.Bo's defense did not work against quality Big 10 teams and he was too stubborn to change.
I see that K-State has released their DC. he has put together solid, tough, well-tackling and generally mistake-free units over the past seven years. Could he adjust to the Big 10?
I'd be interested might also help break into some of the traditional BIG recruiting areas. At least worth an interview to see if this guy is someone who has the potential to be like a Lincoln Riley on the defensive side.Vince Kehres - Toledo defense ranked second in total defense and top five in points per game, yards per game, points per play, and yards per play. Toledo also ranked third in yards allowed per rush. His pass defense held offenses to just a 48.4% completion percentage. That's the lowest completion percentage nationally. Yes, all of this is at a lower level of competition, but he also produced four NFL draft picks in six years at Toledo. Prior to being the DC at Toledo, he was a D3 head coach at his alma-mater where he went 95-6 over his 7 years there, with 6 conference titles and 2 national championships.
Looks like he'd fit right in with the B1G...
TOTAL DEFENSE RANKINGS
#1 - Ohio St
#2 - Toledo
#3 - Oregon
#4 - Indiana
I could see him helping on defense, if memory serves he was a great LB coach. But has he coached as a DC before? My guess is its Ekeler
Rhule did say Ek was going to assist Snow for the bowl game on defense.I could see him helping on defense, if memory serves he was a great LB coach. But has he coached as a DC before?
That's going to happen regardless of who he hires, if he turns out to be good. Rhule is already cooked. There is no way Bo comes back. Rhule would be so dumb. If he has a bad season the Bolievers would be calling for him to take over.
That makes sense, our LBs were never the same after he left in 2010.Rhule did say Ek was going to assist Snow for the bowl game on defense.
Yes at Indiana after he left in 2010 and then at North Texas for a year.. No idea how well he did at either stops.. Just based on Rhules previous hires, his comments about effort not scheme being the issue, makes me feel like it could be him.. I'm probably wrong but nothing would surprise me at this pointI could see him helping on defense, if memory serves he was a great LB coach. But has he coached as a DC before?

A lot of people in Nebraska don't really remember Bo Pelini the defensive coordinator, only his time as the head coach.
I'd hire Bo as a Defensive Coordinator in a heartbeat.

I surely am.. I want a winning program again.
If Ekler makes the D look serviceable in the bowl game, make him the DC and ST coordinator. It's a lot of work, but damnit it's worth a try.
Melvin Gordon just scored againhis defense did have problems later in the career, but remember they were trying to mold him into being more of a HC and he had to give up the defensive play calling and such his last few years.. and it showed.

Phil Snow likely won't be around too much longer.. he came here as a favor to MR.. the guy wants to be retired.Just give him Co-DC title if it helps keep him here. No reason to make him DC other than that.
That isnāt true and you know it.I mean D3 is probably lower competition level than I faced in high school. So impressive record, but not really that impressive.
That would be a huge gambleI could see him helping on defense, if memory serves he was a great LB coach. But has he coached as a DC before?
Could be great. Could be a disaster. It really isnāt as complicated as most of us think if defense is your calling. I would hate to lose him as ST coordinator.Eckler to DC would be a let down
true.. a non-playoff bowl game is kinda like a scrimmage anymore with all the opt outs etc.. more of a pre-cursor to next season.. I don't even think non-playoff bowls should be on a team's record anymore.Could be great. Could be a disaster. It really isnāt as complicated as most of us think if defense is your calling. I would hate to lose him as ST coordinator.
I saw Bob Davie's cable installer in Lincoln.
In name only was John pap but Bo was the head coach and defensive guruWho was the DC?
noBo's defense did not work against quality Big 10 teams and he was too stubborn to change.

It wonāt be anybody on staffMy guess is its Ekeler
Hope notIt wonāt be anybody on staff
At this juncture yes, but I'd love to see an interim HC audition when we fire Rhule.Eckler to DC would be a let down
