Mt. Union is a legit football program, the D3 powerhouse. His defenses have been at or near the top of the MAC since he’s been there and NU has been running a hybrid D in the vein of his for three years. Would be a solid hire. Get him hired and get moving in the portal.
Interviewed apparently doesn’t mean offered😉 Everybody wants to be first without any consequences for being wrong.

If it is @Cruel Halo would be correct. That would be underwhelming. I love EK. But the Dc needs to be right
If its Ekler, Rhule should be fired for incompetence. Ekler has very little experience as a defensive coordinator, and the last time was almost 10 years ago. He was the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Indiana in 2011 and 2012 and the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at North Texas in 2016. That's it.

Maybe he played us never intended to take Nebraska seriously but got a few extra incentives in his contract

Maybe he figures Fran Brown will get fired next year and he'll have a chance to take over as head coach? There's no way Syracuse can offer more money than we can, and Syracuse was even worse than we were this year and their coach's seat is hotter. I hope this means we have someone better in mind, if not this is quite disappointing.

He turned Rhule down after flying to Lincoln and listening to the conditions of his hire.

The beat us out for two recruits in the 2026 class, so they have something over us.

I don't know if he is going to have a choice. He just got turned down by a DC from a MAC team.
of course he has a choice--he can chose numerous aspects that will make the position more attractive to good candidates--1st dont insist on a certain type of D scheme. more flexibility with position coaches brought in and more........

If true not sure really surprising. Just closer to NU paying another buyout. Nothing to look forward to next year

It was reported on X --he did infact have the interview and he turned down the offer--he did infact hear the conditions of his hiring for the position of DC.
Or maybe after the interview Rhule didn’t want him

well it wont be his 1st choice --that part has been settled---it would be wise for high profile coaching and AD searches to have a simple NDA. c'mon its not that complicated.
Rhule haters are gonna make the DC opening out to look like a Penn State type debacle if they all pull together and try hard enough.

Kind of a weird postion. Db coach seems like a good coach and recruiter. OLB coach is a great recruiter. No major complaints about Dvoracek. Leery of the DL coach. Most legit DC's want at least a guy or 2 of their choosing.
