DC's Shazam [April 5]

Obviously... DC needs something (anything!!!) to do well critically and commercially at this point after BvS, Suicide Squad and Justice League.
But, I thought this was a really odd choice to greenlight next.. If it's good and well received, then that's great. I was reading some info on the plot of the Shazam and it seems like it could be really entertaining.. funny, too.

I just can't wrap my mind around him playing Shazam opposite the Rock. Are they going to stuff the suit with socks or something?
@SouthWestOKPoke Still find it weird DC is pushing this one ahead but if it's good.. i will gladly take it! If this is good, DC could have their best year yet with Shazam and Wonder Woman 2.
Yeah, thats all I am hoping for right now is for them to get a string of good movies going.
I wonder what is after Wonder Woman... Suicide Squad 2? Flash? Harley Quinn solo?
The Flash movie has had a lot of issues, I can't remember when its supposed to come out. They have Ava Duvernay doing the New Gods movie. There is also the Birds of Prey movie, so hopefully they will use that to introduce their new Batman.
They have a whole slew of movies that are in development. I hope they can make a good Green Lantern movie, unlike that abomination they made before.

Also they have called it Flashpoint, which I would rather them do that story as a big event instead of the first Flash movie.
I'm really excited about them exploring Jack Kirby's Fourth World work at DC.
For those of you that don't know who Jack Kirby is, he basically invented almost every single hero or hero team at Marvel, except for Spiderman. Possibly the greatest mind [not Stan Lee] in comics history.
He invented Captain America, The Fantastic Four, the Avengers (and all of the heroes in the original group), X-Men among many others for Marvel.
At DC, The New Gods from the Fourth World (Darkseid, Mister Miracle, Orion, The Forever People), also Kamandi, The Demon, OMAC.
He was a great one with an unmistakable art style.

Yep, looks like I'm right (and this will be a good thing).
Finally watched Justice League last night. What a mess. DC really needs to turn things around. Ultimately, I guess they don't have to do anything different, because they are still making plenty of money, but it seems like they could do so much better. Maybe they will get this one right.
With the production and marketing costs of JL, they actually didn't make much money. Now, Suicide Squad was a success commercially. I think Shazam! is going to bring the comedy that DC really needs.

I've been meaning to ask you but what are your thoughts on Geoff Johns stepping down?
I think it was good. It was apparent that it wasn't a good fit for him... didn't really provide any direction or plan for DC Films. He's a GREAT creative mind and I'm glad he appears? to be sticking around in some role.
Haven't seen Aquaman. Never was a big fan of Shazam/Captain Marvel. But, the trailer looks great. Will definitely see this one. I expect it to be clearly the best DC movie to date.
