We should ban broadcasts of any football in the state of WV period. Then use taxpayer money to pay Marshall and WVU for missed revenue, until the networks and football inc come back and give us a greater deal Can't fail strategy.

Or we could just watch Ping Pong and allow a communist country to dictate how much we have to pay to watch. If you want to bet on the match, you have to bet using a Chinese bookie who sets the payout after the match is played.

Agreed. We will force WV tv viewers to watch ping pong AND fund the athletic departments during the football blackout. This should be easy to win.

Athletics in general is not a capitalist endeavor, in WV, WVU's football and men's basketball teams are the only two sports that generate enough revenue to be self sustaining. Every other athletic team in the state loses money. Under a free trade scenario, WVU would field two teams and the rest of the teams would have to fold. Sounds kind of socialist to me...Title IV is purely a socialist endeavor.

Zero, I guess this is a very weak troll attempt for another topic.
That’s just mean and elitist. Don’t we as a society to help out those with less? And isn’t 40 million really too much? Better yet we should raise ticket prices by 20% to help out those schools who are less fortunate

I don't think that's strictly true but here's why. Athletics theoretically have nothing to do with academics. Therefore, if you're going to have athletics at college it would be unfair to give more to men than women because men and women are different with regards to athletics. Thus, if you do athletics in college then you give the same to both men and women, regardless of how much each brings in.

But nowadays we have more people yelling "These players are bringing in money and it's unfair so we should pay them." It seems to me that as soon as you introduce such a capitalistic ethic you are forfeiting the "Give them all the same" ethic. If we should pay football and men's basketball players because they bring in money then as a natural consequence we should pay all the other athletes less.

If you're springing for a scholarship for everyone then fine. But if f-ball and men's ball deserve a scholarship plus cash because they bring in more then other athletes not only don't deserve cash, they don't even deserve the scholarship.

I think you are reading too much into my post. It was basically aimed at Coop. I'm a believer in title IX. Athletics and Academics do intersect at D2 and D3 schools. Athletics actually increase total enrollment at FSU and WLU. It is used as a recruiting tool. D3 is 100% about recruitment. At the D1 level sports is a major recruiting lever that is used to gain free advertising and the attention of high school kids. If they start paying players I will be done with college sports.

Ok let's be retards, why would Marshall get B12 money?

They wouldn't receive money from the Big XII....as part of being a good citizen and helping those with less, WVU would give a percentage of the pay out to Marshall so they can get a hand up.

So I'll ask again, why would MU get any of WVU's payout from the B12? Of course there is no reason. MU should take whatever payout they get from their conference and be happy.

Why are you against a leveling of the playing field? Why should we live in a world of haves and have nots? Doesn't everyone deserve a fair chance?
Why are you for income redistribution only to the rich? anti-Robinhood

You guys joke, but my son tells me that ESPN is actually creating an Ocho channel, and will be airing things like Dodgeball, Ping Pong, Corn Hole, etc. Cotton and Pepper have a home again!

Didn't they go all in on E sports a few years ago? And wrestling? Classic.
