We assume Donati is a more serious AD than Ray was. If so, it can't be ignored that even Ray, who was as soft as they come, fired Muschamp (who he had hand picked) in his 5th season for having a better SEC record than Beamer. Donati didn't hire Beamer. Beamer's overall record will probably be 33-30 (16-24) compared to Muschamp's 28-30 (17-22). No difference. Beamer's one advantage over Muschamp is 2 wins over Clemson, but the Clemson teams Muschamp had to face would have smoked any team Beamer has fielded, so that's not apples to apples. The state of the program now is no better than it was in Muschamp's final season.

Beamer has accomplished some good things. Some good wins over ranked teams. But the good things have been offset by the moments like yesterday (though yesterday stands alone in historical context).

There's not one single football reason to retain him.

The funny thing to me is seeing fans ask "But who would we replace him with?" as if he irreplaceable or something. There are tons of coaches out there.
