In this case, I presume it’s “completely open to what any school (except Northwestern) has to offer.” D’oh!

I was seeing chatter that he flipped to Iowa State but can't find confirmation. Just a few stray ISU comments on Reddit that they are glad to have him.

for perspective, and I was the OP here - I read r/CFB on Reddit daily, and there are decommits daily. Every single day. Now, I am sure our poor performance didn't help, but it's not necessarily indicative that the recruiting class is tanking...yet

just a sidenote, if you are a big CFB fan, you really need to check out the CFB subreddit, it's the best place on the internet for college football fans.

Solid attempt, troll. I literally started a post on The Rock calling for O’Neil to be fired before the plane landed back in Chicago after the Nebraska embarrassment.
Nice straw man honey. The grownups were talking about running off recruits, not whether you were somewhere in the back of the bandwagon.

Then the grownups apparently don’t know what “running off” means.

Apparently.
Running off a recruit is the same as Creaning or Harbaughing someone - its giving them a scholarship, then trying to take it back because you don't want to honor it.

Scaring off a recruit is what I think you all mean .

Or it’s making stupid decisions causing any sane and talented recruit to look elsewhere. But in a day where Webster adds 500 ‘words,’ I’m not gonna mince them with you.

Without stepping in the middle of any slap fights, it is an interesting question: if three more guys de-committed on the defensive side, would that do it?

I don't envy the position Fitz is in here. He brings strength to this program through his power and stability...except if or when he utilizes it incorrectly.

JON could field a Top 10 defense next year with players who have an extra year of experience. Or it could be as bad/worse. Risk worth taking, or worse to fire a DC after a single season? Who wants to work for that coach?

Semantic arguments are fun.
Original implication of chased away was “made northwestern less appealing due to incompetence”, but gcg insisting the only definition is “told him his offer was invalid”. As a textualist, I believe neither are right — and that all chasing must involve running and perhaps a broomstick.

We all cope differently.

Collins tried to chase Vassar away.

Or maybe the correct phrase is "run him off."
