Deeply troubling - must read

Was it deeply or very troubling to the NCAA over Cal's 500th basketball win ball? I'm just curious what the exact quote was, because apparently over 20 years of academic fraud at UNC isn't as troubling to the NCAA. Talk about a complete laughing stock of an organization. Comical at best if you think about both situations and how the NCAA acted in each scenario.

Oh, it was more than just "troubling" to the the NCAA. They wanted a public apology and were going to call UK on the carpet if they didn't "retract" their public acknowledgement.

"Now, a few months later, the Committee on Infractions is starting to get annoyed. According to the Lexington Herald-Leader's Jerry Tipton, the COI send Kentucky President Lee T. Todd Jr. a 'letter asking the school to publicly acknowledge it was wrong to recognize John Calipari's 500th coaching victory this past season.' Committee Chairman Dennis Thomas wants more than that, though. He says the wording of the apology must be 'approved by the Committee on Infractions prior to its release' and he wants a response by next Friday at the latest -- and he's not playing around. More than once in his five-page letter, Thomas wrote of how UK's handling of Calipari's victory total was 'troubling,' 'extremely troubling' and 'very troubling' to the Committee on Infractions. If UK did not agree, Thomas said school officials would be asked to make an in-person appearance before the committee."

Did UK end up giving in? I remember this happening, but I can't remember how this all got resolved.

Of course, the NCAA never had comment after being presented info by UK fans that other programs, including UCLA, were also recognizing vacated wins.

You can't trust the NCAA , they continually practice double standards and are the most guilty of LOIC . The NCAA needs a governing body over themselves .

They sure removed any ambiguity about it by going completely overboard in that situation.

I seem to remember something about Steve Fisher having a similar recognition thing at SD State, and that the NCAA had not done anything about that. Am I remembering that right?
