Even with a lackluster QB play the old bugaboo of lack of defensive talent brought about the Georgia defeat.

So many on here want to play the blame game but it's the numbers of defensive players who are SEC players and until it changes nothing will change. Sure we can win 6-7- maybe 8 games a year but for those who are looking for true program upgrades should look at the defensive side of the ball as a cure.

UK now is a true QB away from probably 2-3 more wins so once it all gets put together U.K. will be fine but defense is no quick fix. Just look at UK record if the players everyone thought would be on this defensive side of the ball had played. Would they have made the defense better? I think so.

Don't get me wrong, IMHO patience is for losers but it takes patience to recruit, red shirt, lift weights, better nutrition, all involved with getting better on the defensive side of the ball. And their are just a few recruits that have the strength and quickness to play as freshman. It really takes longer than a few years to really build a program.

I just did and it seems to me better, quicker players is always the answer on defense. just an opinion.

Where is the two or three more wins going to come from? We gave up 45 to Florida. Southern Miss. moved the ball easily the whole 2nd half. Georgia scored right at or above their average and UT put 49 on us. We have gave up an average of 40+ in the losses. Outside of the 27-24 Georgia loss I can't find a loss to lay the blame all on the offense. QB play is not great, but in all actuality Johnson is probably close to middle of the pack SEC.

Funny how we old "hill jacks" from the E. KY Mts. think alike!

Defense is ALWAYS what it takes to win in the SEC. LSU can't throw a forward pass to save their life. Final score: Alabama 10 LSU 0. Coach Gran is clearly a God-send. Line play has really cleaned up..Coach S has done a helluva job there. We've got some playmakers on D like JJ and Ware...but we need a better front 4 and depth depth and more depth!

I agree about our defense needing to improve. I also believe if we played SM now we would thump them handedly like we thought we would when we played them. That is because our defense has improved a great deal since then. Don't get me wrong it is still fairly porous but much better than what we put on the field against SM.
