In order to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament, you got to win 6 games as we all know, defense wins championships, I don't care what the sport is, that just the history of all sports, defense creates offense, not that we need the help on offense, bash me all you want, but going forward from here, defense and offense rebounding has to be đź’Ż percent, a major priority going forward, staying between your man and the basket, stopping penetration to the basket is a must. Hope we see a big improvement in these areas before tournament time

We don’t have the players to play man against super athletic teams like Bama
He could play a more traditional zone but is reluctant to do so
Seems he’d rather see teams shoot 30 free throws than have to make open threes
We simply have to out score teams because we are limited athletically and in some instances toughness

If a team outscores their opponent six times in a row, they will win the championship. We can improve defensively some in our ball screen defense but I don’t think we will be able to fix the line drive/iso vulnerabilities—-it’s a personnel issue imo. We are still a very good team and we will have a punchers chance

I dont think the defense is fixable this season. It is what it is. Enjoy the ride. People putting big expectations in the post season for this year's team are setting themselves up to potentially be disappointed. Enjoy the journey.

Points win championships.

The defense is a football saying. But it’s not true there either.


It’s just something talking heads say to have something to say.

One bad shooting game during any of those 6 games, you go home , whether it's the 1st game or in the championship game , if you are a top 15 defense team you got a chance, I'm just hoping we can get better, go cats

Say you’re a top 3 defense and you’re the 85 best offense. You’re in the same boat. You play a team one game where a good offense gets hot and you don’t have enough scoring to match. We’d all love to have the top offense and top defense but what do your eyes tell you? Does our personnel look to be capable of being an elite defense ? I don’t see it

Listening to some national guys who say that UK has some good defensive pieces like Butler, Williams, and OO but as a team they are giving up almost 90 points in SEC play. They don't believe you can advance in the Bid Dance giving up that many points. I tend to agree. Pope may be an offensive gure but has to make adjustments on defense. May be his lineups.
