There are a few HS kids still in the mix at DT and DE. This last month is always interesting.

Right now sounds like CMS is sold on a 3-4 base due to experience and depth....could change
Hopefully this will be Mr Elams time to blossom and shine. NT is far from a glorious job, and often it's up to the coaches to let us know if the Nose man is fishing or cutting bait.

Elam already played well last season. He is right on schedule.

Overall, I don't think this looks like much of a SEC D-Line. I see the LBs and secondary being strength of the defense.

It's hard to say how much better the D line will be next year. Ware will be better, he was just a RS FR. Elam and Miggins will be better. How much is still to be determined. We had a couple of other RS FR playing as well. Stoops is plugging holes with JUCOs until our young guys mature. 2017 should be a huge leap over 2016.

I don't know of anyone saying we will have a gangbuster D-line or that there is no reason to have some concern but by the same token to discount out of hand that there will be no improvement in returning players based on small sample sizes is completely closed minded.
RV I'm not sure that is the argument anybody is making though. It sure isn't what I'm concerned about. I agree with you that the players individually will improve, however the concern is about the entire DL and that includes the whole two-deep taken as position group will be less formidable than last years after losing Johnson, Lewis. and Huguenin.

Even though there will be improvement by individuals the starting spot for them is far behind what we lost. I for one don't think they can improve enough to make up the difference. If they do improve that much then the conversation about our coaches abilities to develop should be buried 18' deep.
