Defensive Line & LB

Does anybody know if Laake, Murdoch, and/or Alonso is going the switch from DT to DE? We still are a couple of three players short on our Defensive Line, as far as I can tell, even if one or two of those switch.

I think we are a little light at Linebacker if I'm gonna be honest. We need a couple more there.

All seriousness aside, I'm actually saying we just don't have enough depth. The players we need, need to be second string level players at least. We had more players/depth on the roster in the years before.

I realize there is still the portal, but this seems to be waiting till the very end. I hesitate to think about the quality of those still in the portal.

Absolutely need 1 DE to scrape by on depth, and really 2-3 DL to be at the scholarship depth level we have been at years before. Same thing at linebacker, 1/absolute, 2 to reach past depth.

We also have a more serious need at OL. Our absolute have to have need is 2, previous depth level is 4 or 5.

So we need 4 minimum at three important positions, and more like 8 or 9 to reach past depth.

That's a lot of players to be looking for in April. Especially at the building block positions of OL & DL I hope there are better players still out there than my assumption. My fear is we are going to see a steep drop in playing ability.

Last year our needs were not so serious, nor so many at this point. IIRC we signed 2 or 3 late, and maybe 1 was a semi urgent necessity. Hopefully my view of the transfer portal this late is wrong.

My fear is we end up taking a crap player or three, that is at the walk-on level.
