the head coach of Dekalb said nobody on his team stepped up to make a play on 4th down on the 4 yard line. Coach, you made a mistake not kicking the FG and making the game one possession at 10-3. That one is on you, not your players. Also, when the score was 10- 0 why did you let the clock wind down from over 4 minutes to 2 when you had three timeouts that you were not using? Made no sense.

The coach at Dekalb (Matt Weckler) is outstanding. They were awful before he got there (26-119 from 1997-2012 before Weckler took over). Going into this season Weckler was 49-19.
Perhaps YOU should coach Dekalb. Weckler is obviously making the “coaching miscues” you alluded to. LOL

That’s an impressive coaching record and they have been consistently good lately. That said, you kick the FG and cut the lead to a single score. This is the state playoffs not regular season. Let’s see how the coach does in the DVC next year against tougher competition.

That's right, you kick the FG and not criticize your players the next day for not making a play.
That's right. A QB switch and 34 at tailback was needed and finally happened. They figured it out. All good now.
I do question the leadership abilities of someone that will PUBLICLY put the burden on high school kids. We live in an era where taking ownership is rare, it’s so easy and convenient to just blame someone else. Most parents point to the coach instead of looking internally or even just saying the other team was better. I’m sure Dekalb’s coach is not on the hot seat so I don’t see the benefit in throwing the kids under the bus.
Many of those kids played their last ever football game, they lost something near and dear to them and the guy that they look up to for guidance in times of good and bad just said publicly “it’s not me, it’s them.” That doesn’t sit well with me.
