Depaul's coach was just suspended for 3 games and the NCAA put the program on 3 year probation.
Let's go get Charlie Moore.
Let's go get Charlie Moore.
You want NU to go on probation too?\
Let's go get Charlie Moore.
Always thought Leito was a pretty good coach. Any idea what this was about?Depaul's coach was just suspended for 3 games and the NCAA put the program on 3 year probation.

This a sad case for DePaul. I think your going to see some transfers out of this. I can’t imagine these freshmen recruits want to sit around for three years before your school is eligible for the tournament. They have a good freshman class. You can’t help but wonder how they got them to commit. The program has to vacate wins and pay a high five-figures fine also. The school also volunteered to reduce its recruiting days.
The selectivity of the NCAA and its lack of consistency never fails to absolutely blow my mind.
Recruiting issues are so rampant that the FBI needed to become involved. Want to do anything about those programs who were CAUGHT ON TAPE?!?!
No, we'll take care of that later ... if at all.
Somehow they were able to complete the DePaul investigation in a timely manner, but they're still shuffling the papers on infractions that iccured at the same time fro. Auburn, Arizona, Kansas, Louisville, LSU, NC State, Oklahoma State and Oregon among others.
But good thing they got DePaul. Their recent record really demonstrates they know how to take advantage of the system.
Un-f-ing-believable. My sympathies to the DePaul faithful.

They cheated and got caught. wonder if the player was named and is he still playing at DePaul. This a sad case for DePaul. I think your going to see some transfers out of this. What good would three years probation be without preventing a school from playing in the tournament. That’s not probation. It’s just a gentle slap on the wrist. Be good boys but keep on your good recruiting.I've read nothing indicating penalties include postseason ban.

That was a classic line!Reminds me of the classic Jerry Tarkanian line that "The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky, that they're going to put Cleveland State on Probation!"
I have no idea.Do you think any of those transfers might be Charlie Moore?
Now if they had used that laser against their opponents...my favorite NCAA probation case is Cal Tech
Cal Tech has this thing where the students spend the first semester wandering in and out of classes figuring out what might grab their interest
the NCAA learns that the basketball team won games when a couple players weren't registered for a full class load (cuz they were wandering)
so the NCAA threatens to put Cal Tech on probation and vacate the previous year's wins....which was like 2...which made Cal Tech crazy because it was a freak year and they actually beat somebody, instead of, like, inventing a lazer that could bend around the moon and zap aliens hiding on the other side

Yeah, without any sort of inside information, I just wouldn't expect Charlie Moore to be back in play.
Bennett was not "little known" here in Big Ten country as his dad had coached at Wisconsin and prior to that at Wis-Green Bay. You can never predict a national championship, but many around here had a pretty good idea that Tony Bennett was on track for great things.Leito was both not very successful and pretty universally disliked at UVA. Tons of transfers and regarded as harsh & unfair. The good news was when he was shown the door, UVA recruited a then little known Wash State coach,Tony Bennett. Bennett is a total class act, great coach & he & his wife are deeply & positively involved in the Charlottesvile community.
Without outright banning postseason play, they can impose penalties, such as cutting scholarships, that make it much more difficult to make the postseason. That's hardly a slap on the wrist. What good would three years probation be without preventing a school from playing in the tournament. That’s not probation. It’s just a gentle slap on the wrist. I did not see where they cut scholarships.Without outright banning postseason play, they can impose penalties, such as cutting scholarships, that make it much more difficult to make the postseason. That's hardly a slap on the wrist.
Just responding to the notion that penalties short of a postseason ban are just a slap on the wrist. I have no idea what penalties are being imposed in this case.I did not see where they cut scholarships.
The only success (sort of) that Depaul had had in a while was during his stints there. Time in between was pretty badLeito was both not very successful and pretty universally disliked at UVA.
