Fast Facts: This Friday night turn on CN100 for a Live showdown in the Northern Lake County Conference. Coverage begins at 7pm as the Antioch Sequoits host the Knights of Grayslake North. The Sequoits are off to a 2-0 start with wins over Lake Forest and Woodstock North. Although the Knights are currently 0-2, they lost their first 2 games by a total of 6 points. Both teams feature quality QBs with Sophomore, Athan Kaliakmanis, leading the way for Antioch while Senior, Austin Martineau, takes the snaps for Grayslake North.

Fast Facts: Sunday afternoon tune in for a match-up in the Southwest Suburban Conference in Harvey. Thornton Township is the site as the Wildcats host the visiting Porters of Lockport. After a tough Week One loss to Andrew, the Wildcats rolled past Gary West 58-0 in Week Two to earn their first win of the season. Lockport will try to turn things around after dropping their first 2 games against 2 good teams (Providence and Wheaton Warrenville South). Lockport’s starting QB, Marcos Voulgaris, is the son of Spiros Voulgaris who led the Porters to a conference co-championship and a post season appearance in the Fall of 1985.

It may not be the ESCC, but it probably has to do with the fact that there are two D1 caliber QBs going in that game.

I mean, I guess that explains one of the games (although there are numerous games between top 50 teams that feature numerous D1 caliber players).

What about the Lockport-Thornton game?

Listen, I am happy to have any high school football on TV. Just a little perplexed why these two are the GOTWs when there are plenty of other much better options.

I learned a while back that the GOTW is exactly as it says, it's the game being showed that week, and not necessarily the best game that week. No problem with these teams getting some coverage.

CN100 is trying to cover as many ares they serve as possible...sometimes they will get great games and in other weeks they will branch out and hit areas they feel needs coverage etc. This is one of those weeks where you go and see some different teams...FYI this is not a great week especially when compared to the first two weeks.
