Looks like a pretty even matchup, and it will be a trademark SMC slobberknocker for sure. Swain might have an edge in the passing game, and the Knights won't be able to pack the box against them. Don't know who has the better line play; Swain has come a long way since the Smoky Mtn game, but Rville is the more experienced. This one will probably come down to a penalty or turnover, or whoever has the last shot, or just wants it more.

It will come down to a turnover. Swain is will have to respect R'ville's passing game as well.

Should be a good one.

Robbinsville can pass alittle also. We have about 700 yards passing. We better play better than Friday night or we will loss.

Wow Nole, you were at the Cherokee/Rville game instead of the Murphy/Swain game? Did your car break down in Cherokee or what?

Should be a good game in Rville this friday. Swain is favored for sure, but we like being the underdogs.

How is a Swain favored? Playing the defending champs at home, while being banged up, with a much younger team. Another Black Knight fan was saying 2-3 TD advantage and on another thread has already stated that they are the best team in the conference. Black Knights are the clear favorite but I like Swain's chances. Should be a great game. Team who makes the fewest mistakes wins.

Bowman, Beaner, and Cody seemed to be clickin' against the Dogs. That 2-3 tds advantage ... well old knight 20 must be dippin' in the shine or tryin' to start some smak talk. Even though the score doesn't tell the tale - Cherokee very nearly handed us an SMC loss. Glad this game is in Rville.

Seen both and very similar games against Murphy. Both games Murphy killed themselves with penalties I would say Robbinsville wins playing at home will be close and could go either way. #25 for Swain is a difference maker gotta contain him for Robbinsville to win.

2 of those 3 are sophomores. Two of those 3 are also not playing physically at near 100%. Cody is a stud for sure. It should be a great game. Like I said earlier, the Knights are big favorites and should be. They are the defending champs, haven't lost a conference game in a couple of years, they are experienced, and healthy by all accounts, and they are at home. I hope Swain wins but I'm not picking with my heart but picking with my head. The Knights are the clear cut favorite but the Devils will be there Friday to give it all they have.

Alot of work for me this time of the year, every year. Thats why I quit doing the Pickems after last season. And why I havent posted as much as normal the last 2 weeks. Heck, I havent seen Robbinsville play but once in the last 4 weeks. One thing I know is I will be at the game Friday about 4 or 5 and ready to blow off a month worth of steam. lol.

From what Gary said on air last week, Robbinsville didn't allow it a couple of years ago. But I don't think there'll be an alternative if they don't... does Rville have a radio broadcast? Somebody will have to do the play by play from the game on their phone :)

I will be there Friday night to watch this one. To close to even make a educated guess. It's a game of match ups and they both match up well. But can someone stop the streak pattern to Cody, lol. Swain has had this play even back in my day when Denny Rochester bombed it down the sideline. They get someone on it ever week, you know it's coming but not when it's coming. Looking forward to a great battle

Hah... and before Denny (and back in my day) it was Doug Plemmons to Mike Evers :)

Oh I remember Plemmons too. My oldest brother played then. Good times. Was Dale Irons coach then?

Irons coached in '72 and '73, after Milton Barden left (and he had succeeded Carroll Wright). Bill Ensley, God rest his soul, coached from '74 to '76, the last years before the Deitz era began at Swain.

Oldknight, Teddy and Matt graduated in 77, so they were on the 76 team. Tim Solesbee graduated in 78, so he was a junior on the 76 team and even though Matt was 1st string, Tim got a fair amount of QB time too. Good times - those guys were fun to watch.

The 1976 Robbinsville team was a juggernaut! Not only a undefeated State Champion but also beat the Franklin team that won the 2A championship that year!
