Devin will be off to a nice start in life. No student loans, and a good salary for someone his age (with perks), which will most likely increase. Plus, living abroad is a great experience for a person.

And when he's 28-30 years old, no longer playing ball, I hope he leaves in a positive manner because coaching may be something he will have to do to earn a living if he doesn't have a degree that will help him. Now I'm not saying he's making the wrong choice at all. Hell, I'd do the same thing. However, you are painting a picture of roses when that may be accurate the next 4-6 years, but after that it's very cloudy and potentially bad for him without a degree.

I said he was off to a nice start. Just like anyone else, he'll need to make good decisions and make the most of his opportunity - I didn't think I needed to explicitly address that, but I forgot who my audience was and now I know better (and what better nincumpoop is there to remind me).

He hasn't/can't sign a contract yet. I would think that if he had a great end run (ex. DeSean Butler), one would think that would drive up his asking price.

I agree on the Europe thing. He will never jump higher than he does right now. He will never be as more explosive than he is right now. Another year in college will not make him a better pro prospect. His limitations at his height of 6'8" seal the deal for him in the NBA.

IMO his best chance at a big payday is to play TE in the NFL. He has OK athleticism for an NBA at the 3/4. He would be a freak at TE in the NFL though. If I were him, I would just show up at WVU Pro Day and see what happens. I'm sure Huggs could get him in. I would literally drive to Morgantown to watch that live.

But what is keeping him from going back to school after those 4-6 years to finish the semester or 2 he MIGHT have left?

Is there a window of opportunity for when a person cannot achieve a degree? What would keep Devin from completing his degree during the off season, like some other former Mountaineers?

So professional European teams are offering amateur college athletes contracts directly without agents representing them, during the season, with actual monetary figures involved? How exactly does that happen? How does the NCAA feel about that? How would they even have access to players who don't have agents?

Are European scouts being sent to Morgantown to watch him play and offer him suitcases of cash?
