Per various media reports. I wasn't in favor of accepting this transfer based purely on the accusation of punching his girlfriend. I admittedly have done zero research on the circumstances of the incident. Anyways...he seems to be coming to The Ville.

Id rather not have him.

Everyone deserves 2nd,3rd, 300 chances, but the staff doesn't have to be that school.

Huge, huge coup for this staff!! This isn't Sunday School guys. If he screws up here, he's gone; simple as that. This guy is an absolute stud.

I'm fine with it. If he screws up here he's gone. Simple as that!

When he's destroying olines and QB's next year we'll all forget about his past, if he can walk a straight line. I see it working out. Go Cards

Purely from a football standpoint with the big 12 defensive player of the year and josh Harvey Clemons on our D .....they might be the 2 best players in their position in all of college football
On one team

Fields tweeted that he will walk a straight line and he's thankful and blessed to have this 2nd chance.

I'm excited about this pickup. He made a mistake and he's been forgiven. Who are we to harp on it?

Mostly agree, but I understand the concern of fans about the identity of our athletic programs. I just don't support that view to the point of thinking I can make that decision. Nor should I.

First, I don't have all the info available--no one does unless you're an insider. And secondly, my neck is not on the line. Yes, I own my little piece of the athletic program you could say. But no way I have the personal stake of a Petrino or Jurich. For them, the results of these decisions can be career changers.

So, I just go along with what they decide whether he signs up or not. In fact, I'm GLAD a decision like that isn't mine...

There's a post on TOS from a TCU fan who seems to have a lot of insight and is certainly closer to the situation then most here. Basically says Devonte Fields is a great kid. Got caught up in a bad relationship and running with the wrong crowd. May have caught chickie bug w another dude...took a swing at the guy and may have accidentally hit her with brunt of the punch.

I trust TJ.

I trust CBP.

I trust TG...

Therefore, I trust Devonte with a second chance.

Go Cards!

PS...I'd copy the post and bring it here...not sure that is the right thing to do. Look for frogfan2000, seems legit.

I saw that post Beak and it was a good read. Wonder if Eric Crawford saw it. He's not big on this...but he wasn't big on us hiring BP either.

Personally I would rather win with questionable characters then lose with choir boys. It's that simple.

I don't think we have to chose between winning and character. We've won with players with excellent character before. We're winning with such players now. I hope the kid has changed and learned but I don't want him representing the school I graduated from.

Remember the old Miami teams, had the best offense and defense in the country?

I really like a strong defense and it looks like Their building one and you know bobby will get that offense going.

funtimes ahead...fun Times!!

For example, will some of you guys continue to buy season tickets and go watch a team that doesn't field players you want representing you?

You're just complaining otherwise...

Fredburg. I would hate to have to chose between the two. I hate having to chose between anything really. I can't even remember the last time I did chose.

Agreed Zip.
My decision to renew my tickets will rest solely on this situation. Based on what I've read thus far, and including his twitter message, I find this very unsettling. I'll call it a disappointing turn in what was to this point a very optimistic start to 2015 for the football program.

Somewhere there's a line........

We lowered our bar when we took CBP back.

I was against it, and was soundly chastised for being unforgiving. We "HAD" to have CBP I was told.

He's ours now, I'm 100% on board with him, and if he's good with the guy, so am I.

Like Sound Slave, now all I care about is winning.

The High Road is getting smaller and smaller in our rearview mirror.

You need to get over the "baggage".

I was against this. There's being an idiot and there's beating down a woman. Huge difference between this guy and Michael Dyer, IMO. If it were your daughter, would your opinion be the same?

Anyway, he's transferring. So "the boots are on the ground," so I guess it's time to support the guy as a Cardinal. Wow I feel dirty typing that.

Agreed. His message "to all the haters" was just nonsense. What does he expect, people to love him and think it's great what he did? What he should say is "I made a horrible mistake and understand I that people have questions. I need to earn respect and I'm goign to do just that" instead of calling out "the haters."

Of course not, but she's obviously forgiven him. He made a terrible mistake that shouldn't happen, with anyone. I'm 100% against putting your hands on a woman.

I'm not going to stop being a Louisville fan because of one player.

Yes I will renew my season tickets. So I guess I'm just a complainer.

By the way do you still go to basketball games at the KFC Yum Center after complaining about it and its financing for years?

But as a matter of fact, I do go to games at Bailout Arena. I'm no longer a basketball season ticket holder after 25+ years of ponying up, and I refuse to sit in the upper arena. You'll seldom see me pay for parking, and almost never do I spend any money in surrounding establishments. I also can't tell you one non-U of L event I have attended at the arena since it opened.

So no, the arena is not getting much of my money. And I will continue to publicize its financial situation at every opportunity.

And congrats to you for admitting that you're just complaining...

So it's a matter of how much money? Since you're not spending "much" money at the Yum Center you are morally superior to all of us who express an opinion in disagreement with an action taken by the university but still buy season football tickets every year. In my case that's two tickets plus the donation which comes out to about $900 a year. And in the interest of full disclosure I will occasionally buy a Coke at the concession stand. I'm glad I understand now.
