I was looking at my profile the other day and it says I joined March 14, 2002, which seems about right. I was wondering who are the longest tenured posters on the Board, after reading the "What got you to start posting on DI" Thread earlier in the week.

So who are the Board Graybeards? Post your Join Date.

My current profile says Jan 2011. If I remember correctly, I think I joined before that, then wasn’t here for awhile, and forgot my login info so I created a new account

my first thread I started I was pummeled Lolol

My first post, or one of my first got me hammered too!! I posted something about hating how Bilas seemed to be almaost anti Duke and went overboard trying not to show favoritism. Oh my god I got beat up!!! And now it seems like it’s the general consensus for a lot of people here!! I was just early to the party I guess!!!

I also remember posting something in the very beginning about my hatred for unc not being as strong as most peoples here and that I thought it was mostly due to the fact that I live in ky and my hate for them is so strong, there just isn’t much left, and because one of my best friends is a unc fan and I refuse to let it come between us, and lastly, that I haven’t had much exposure to the fan base.

I got called retarded, a troll, someone said there is something mentally wrong with me, and a lot more that I can’t recall!!

I think I remember that. I don't remember how I responded but probably did bring the fact about the cheaters being only rival. Regardless you've become a great and loyal Duke poster and enjoy you being on DI.OFC

My first post was in January of 2005. I don't really post a ton for having been on here 15 years - there are plenty of people who have been on here less than half the time I have, but have over twice as many posts - but I am on here multiple times pretty much everyday, and I really enjoy reading what those aforementioned posters, and all others, have to say.

I know how you feel when it comes to being welcomed here. I’ve been here for 3 years, and one of my “welcome to the board, you no nothing, think you know more than K, wannabe fan,” was when I said K should play a little zone.
I guess the tenured posters are a little weary of anyone new coming on. But on the same hand, I’d like to think I’m not quite as argumentative as I used to be.

Well compared to everyone itt, I'm brand spanking new. I remember my first few posts being about a meteor taking out UNC and Kentucky when they played each other. I'm pretty sure anyway. I remember only positive responses to that. Surprised to see so many people got hated on when they first joined. But then again, not rally. Unless you come in with a super benign statement, someone will take issue to what you said.

With the dukiejay moniker I just passed 15 years this month. With my original moniker, dukiej, I think it was fall of 2002, I believe.

It was a long three years here from 2007 to 2009. Yuck.

Another thing that causes that sometimes is you type something then someone reads it in a different way than you meant it, if that makes sense

They were. I was posting a lot more frequently back then, and I remember how devastating losing recruits was during that time. Recruiting seemed like it was the key to breaking our "slump". We had such a hard time landing big guys back then. And there was lots of arguing on here about that, and how the current teams were performing. Before the Plumlee's (at this time Zoubek was barely playing) we had so many misses. I distinctly remember being crushed when we didn't land Greg Monroe, Patrick Patterson, and even Gregory Echenique.

For those who didn't experience it, our recruiting was much different back then. Personally, I think it was a transition period for coach; getting used to players not sticking around for 4 years.

I guess for me it was April of 06, although I feel like I starting posting here a little while before that. The first players I remember being recruited were Paulus, McRoberts, and that group.

I've been on here a few years. I don't recall getting slammed on here but on DBR I got slammed several times, complete with the "take 10 quotes of mine and call each one out separately." :)

Yeah, it was tough. First, we were considered the leader for Brandan Wright. I remember reading articles about his visit to Carolina and how their reporters thought he was bored stiff. Even Ty Lawson posted something on FB about how he thought Wright was all Duke. Two days later, he committed to the Heels.

Then there was Greg Monroe. We were once again widely considered the leader....he didn't even VISIT. He went to Georgetown on a visit and committed before the weekend was over.

Patterson always seemed like a pipe dream, IMO. But I admit, I got sucked in by him. He said a lot of the right things....and I think he enjoyed having that Duke name on his list. After the fact things started leaking that it was always Kentucky and only Kentucky.

We were starving for good news on the recruiting front....any good news. Even if it was something named Gregory Echenique. Hahaha....
