If Lee can stop throwing pick sixes, this D could get us 8 wins.
Rutgers QB is trash, but our DL (interior) looks stout and we are pretty good up the middle. LB and CB speed (or lack thereof) will be exposed against the better teams on the schedule. I think this team can get to 6 wins (Illinois, NW, MN and Iowa). I doubt we get more than that and 4-5 wins is a distinct possibility.
Trash or not trash. The defense gave up the long opening drive and nothing else. That’s progress. Keep getting better.
We should beat Purdue, and Riley is generally good for one upset a year. I think Wisky at home will be close if we avoid turnovers. We should be able to beat whatever weak sister we face in a bowl.
That's what I said in my original post. Riley and Langs need to realize that making Lee a game manager is the road to winning.
Right but Riley is also good for a few stinkers too. Iowa is no pushover. Lose to MN and Purdue a distinct possibility. I don't see this team pulling any upsets. Not enough team speed. I predict 5 wins and hope for 6. Bowl eligible baby!!! Then give Mike next year with another (hopefully) stellar recruiting class
I'm really liking what I'm seeing from the d-line. Even when they only rushed 3, they were still at least getting in the backfield. Maybe not getting to the QB, but at least they were getting back there and giving the o-line all they could handle.
I didnt see them today but before today i have been impressed by Purdue. They look very good this year actually
And i agree about Diaco and the defense. It has been consistantly improving. We just need an O-Line and a QB
Thus is the story of the past 15 years. We seem to have one position group or unit playing well enough to beat just about anybody but the other is lacking.
It will be hard to beat Purdue no matter what. They will put up points. Northern Illinois, Rutgers, and Illinois will be the worst offenses we play. We will see how Diaco's defense holds up against real teams.

Hard to imagine at this point that we would be favored against anyone other then Illinois. But hey, we have a lot of football left for us to get better.
