If anyone has cool Bootle pics/video whether in-game or off the field can you guys post em here?

Last season, Bootle received a 76.6 overall grade with a 78.4 coverage grade. Lamar Jackson received a 64.5 overall grade with a 68.1 coverage grade.

I’m a huge Bootle fan. I feel like the kid has “it”... he’s obviously Cornerback 1. And it’s not really close. Are we all watching the same games? BUT it seems like the boards give the kid the hardest time. I love his story but does stars let a fan base dictate how they receive a player? I saw these figures above recently from PFF and figured I’d add my 2 cents. He’s special. Competitive. Fast. Will come up and let his pads talk. Numbers don’t lie. And I feel like this year he’ll tweak his game enough to secure those elusive interceptions. Let’s hope Bootle is a leader and brings his secondary guys along for the ride!

Bootle is a really good CB. He gained enough confidence from coaches last season to be trusted to shadow some of our best opposing WRs. He's good enough to match up with some of the shiftiest WRs which is helpful when playing guys like Rondale Moore.

Now we need our taller CBs to step up. I have confidence that they will excel in zone but I will feel great about our secondary if our guys do better in press and man coverage.

I appreciate that, thank you. I been looking all over the pace and watching for an overall grade for Bootle. He’s definitely one of the best, if not the best CB in the BIG 10 and last year he was only a sophomore. He will get that much better by the time he’s a senior. Him, Lamar Jackson and Cam Taylor will do their parts against the BIG 10 WRs. GBR

I found it interesting that D Williams had a 91 overall grade at Safety or something like that, the highest grade in the BIG 10 at DB. That dudes going to be a great one for us at Safety.

Yea D Williams graded amazing for only having so few snaps. He’s definitely a head hunter. I wanna say Bootle had about 888 snaps and L Jackson maybe 780 or somewhere in that ball park. These guys need to be on the field. Look for Dismuke to surprise folk, it seems like his opportunity is here. Has great range as far as tackling safeties goes. Cam Taylor is gonna come in and provide the necessary relief.

So the thing with PFF is it’s purely subjective with the way they grade their players... don’t get me wrong I do think for the most part they do a decent job but the way they grade is by grading each snap the person plays from a -2 to a +2 and each play is graded basically by importance and outcome, or that’s what I was able to read any ways, so say they won’t grade an int that was tipped by a WR on say 2nd and 7 in the first quarter with the players team up 7 already as they would grade that same INT in the fourth with the teams tied... so there is a lot of room there to be left for interpretation maybe that INT in the first quarter is rated as a 0 because the person watching it sees it as neutral and didn’t see the WR get pushed off his route or forced it to cut it short putting him in position to have the pass over thrown which I’d say is pretty strong play, and let’s say the INT in the 4th gets rated as your +2 but the CB is out of position and the WR just ran a bad route and the CB got lucky with one of those look what I found moments, to me that’s not very good CB play, that was just luck.... football outsiders and some of the next gen stats based grading seems to be better as it takes the human error out of it

I tend to agree, I also question how they know what the route was, or if it was an option route, and the QB and the WR weren't on the same page and the ball is picked or incomplete. How do they know who was supposed to block who on the OL, how do they know if a DL stunt was called up front and one guy does their part but he other doesn't and there is a big gain through the abandoned gap. What if they are supposed to be in a combo coverage and the CB passes the WR off to the non-existent safety?

I would trust the coaching staff's grading of the players more than these guys. They know the call, they know what each guy is supposed to do and so forth.

It's a cool way to subtly give some players props, but I have also read stories about how PFF graded a guy highly and the coach said that that player graded out the worst on the team that week. Of course if you believe the coaches, they will tell you that everybody's favorite whipping boy and 4 year starter at LB graded out very well all year long.

Yes you guys are so right about the PFF grading system. They are usually spot on with the players having the biggest impact though. And I understand Bootle was voted and awarded by the Husker coaches as most valuable player in the secondary last year. So maybe with the way they grade games he was the x-factor. I heard a few of the marquee BIG 10 coaches see him as the most dangerous corner in the league. Im excited about this year.
