Did anyone here hope for an undefeated season?

What kind of question is that? Of course and I think I can speak not only for every Duke fan here but for every fan of every team in every sport. Just like LetsGoDukies I didn't expect it but had hopes for it. To believe anything less would mean you hoped your team would lose. Now how dumb is that? Weren't you hoping for an undefeated season? OFC

In all seriousness I prefer to lose a game like this early in the season. I think it takes pressure off the team. Obviously there are some unique circumstances around this particular season and loss......sheesh look at half the topics on the first page, but it was a close loss that we nearly pulled out against a quality team.

Not if no one ever beats you. If you have an undefeated season means you don't lose. When you get to Duke's level there's always pressure no matter in you haven't lost or have lost any number of games. OFC
Of course everyone wants an undefeated season. I think most people like to see a team struggle a bit early because we believe a team grows from that and has a better chance of accomplishing the goal (which is to win a title, not go undefeated). I think everyone would take a bunch of losses (including 2 to UNC) and a national title over 37,38,39 wins in a row with a loss in March/April.

Of course. Hard not to when you know every game is winnable, and you are going to be the favorite. We got close in 99' with nothing to show for it. Id rather lose 4 or 5 and have something to show for it.
Yep, I've been thinking about 40-0 for about 6 months. Shame it took injuries just 3 games to make it a moot hope.

Vs major div 1 competition I take it one game at a time. The fact that Duke isn't going to go undefeated does not take away the sting of losing, much less losing a game in the last seconds that you could have won
Hm. I have to admit, I am a touch surprised. It never even crossed my mind to hope for an undefeated season... and I am MUCH more a "I want a loss so the guys can feel how much it sucks" type. I suppose I am in the minority.
Well, I hope for undefeated season's for all of my favorite teams. I don't expect them, but I can always hope. I guess it depends on what you're really asking.
If you're asking....did you expect an undefeated season? Then, no, I didn't. I hoped, but it was never going to happen.
To your last point....I don't want losses, but losses happen. Every player on our roster except for the freshmen have played a previous season at Duke. That means they've played on top 10 teams and in some cases have won national championships. They've also lost games and they're also experienced in being every other team's biggest game of the season. Sure, it's possible to learn from losses....in fact, when you lose you're kind of forced to learn from it. But, but, but....I don't want losses so they can see what it feels like. Most of them know by now.
Never really wanted an undefeated season to be honest. Like a poster said earlier I don't want this team feeling like they are invincible

For sure, but I still have other goals in mind that this team could still accomplish... National champs, ACC regular season and tourney champs, and undefeated against UNC.
Yeah I hoped for it, just like I hope to win the lottery but never expect it to happen.
An undefeated season would be nice because it would mean that we won ACC regular season title, ACC tournament title, national championship and were #1 from wire to wire but I come into each season with 3 hopes: 1) beat UNC twice (3 times if we play in the ACC tournament), win ACC tournament and win NCAA tournament. If those 3 things happen then that's all that matters to me.
I'm even ok if we only get the last one on your list..
If they thought they were invincible after going undefeated, then they absolutely have the right to feel invincible. I wouldn't care in the least.
