We haven't seen the real pictures of what they took as evidence. Could look something like below. They don't take it unless it was brought up in interviews. So he definitely could have been spiking it. DEA says it can be applied multiple ways.
So out of all the Conspiracy Theroies on this subject. They definitely could be looking into this one.
