I'm am probably going to switch from Dish to DirecTV in November when my contract runs out. I pay $150.00 per month, the only premiums I have are Showtime and the sports package. Anyone have any suggestions. Right now I have it in 3 rooms but my son just recently moved out. I would like to have it in the basement but really, bo one is down there very often to watch it. I also have the hopper. I live in the country so cable is not an option.

about right, have used DirectTV for years and have had very few problems. Really like it.

I haven't had many service issues in the 5 years I have been with Directv. I have had several DVR boxes die and remotes go bad but they have always overnighted replacements to me. The only complaint I have with Directv is that storms and sometimes even light rain causes me to lose signal. I would guess that this is an issue with all satelite providers though.

The key with DTV is to not sign a two year contract with one year of discounts. They used to work with you on the second year, now they put the screws to you.

Been a customer for 9 years. New customers get the best deals. But you can get fairly close by negotiating with a customer retention specialist once your deal is close to expiring. It's important to do this yearly. Often they will throw in 3 months of premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Encore), new equipment, one year of the NFL package etc.

Like Big Cable, they will stick it to you in fees and price hikes. One of my friends gets a rural address fee for example. Just have to play hardball since streaming services and other competition have them sweating. Have a backup plan such as a media player (Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Firestick) and be persistent.

I got made fun of for getting Sling and an antenna. I guess I will cry over the $1500 extra I have in my pocket every year since that only costs $25/month.
I feel the same. Kodi witih IPTvstalker gets shuned upon but I still continue to watch live sports. I'm to the point of why bothering.

Just switched from Comcast to Direct TV. Once we re-oriented to the channel/On Demand format, we aren't missing anything and gain several improved features. And saved about $125/month.

All good.

Kodi is the like the Chick Fil A Chicken Minis, good as a side item, but not enough to be your main course. I've watched a few sporting events on various apps and there's no way I'd rely on that being the only way I can watch UK sports.

PSVue is a perfect medium, I get all the benefits and simplicity of cable, and I only pay $35 a month.

Funny I did just the opposite... went from DTV to DISH....
Was told by installer that if you wanna get the lowest price you got to move around....
When I told DTV I wanted a "recovery package"... THEN they wanted to price match!!!
Too late....

I have had dish for 6 years, have all premium channels (HBO, Cinemax, showtime, and encore) and 3 DVRs. I pay 79 a month. No clue what you guys are doing. I call every year and threaten to leave for directTV and they just keep it the same.

This.
Dumped direct and haven't regretted it once.
Received several letters from direct begging me to come back.

I don't trust anyone that has removed cable or satellite. I don't know how you do it unless you don't care about live sports, live cable news, quality programming, a screen you can view, or a complete hassle every day.

^ What do you do for sports? Or is that why your takes are non-existent or consistently wack AF?

I watch every game on my 70" 4k HDTV. I hit a button for my Amazon Fire TV and then I click on the Sling App and then click on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, or SECN. If my game is on a network I hit the input button for my antenna and then flip through the channels and watch it there. All in beautiful HD. Not sure what you're impression of getting rid of cable or satellite is. Heck AT&T just announced that DirecTV would be 100% streamed within 5 years and they were getting rid of all satellites and dishes.

K, here we go again! I cancelled DirecTV at the end of Bball season and went with Playstation Vue. For a little while our whole thing cost about $30. Netflix and Amazon Prime rounded out a cool setup for just $50/month. Sweet right?!

Nah. PS Vue interface great, but soooo slow to respond to remote commands. DVR was great but soooo unpredictable. It worked OK some of the time, horribly most of the time. I consider myself a pretty tech-savvy guy so this wasn't the usual "not quite ready for prime time" thing...it was pretty dysfunctional. Anyway DirecTV called recently with an "amazing" new offer ($85 with SEC network in the package, 4 genies...free install) and I signed up for 2 years. Maybe the web TV thing will be tweaked by the time I get to the end of that . DirecTV is pretty kick ***. The time away made me appreciate that.

I really liked DTV but it went out every time there was thunder. Didn't even have to be raining but heavy rain didn't help. Plus they kept screwing up my bill. And instead of correcting the bill immediately, they'd make me wait until the next month.

Currently have att uverse. Pretty happy with the service.
