Yeah, but believe it not, this actually gives us incredible momentum. Rutgers played very well (and they have been playing well of late, with 2 wins and a lot of close games in the last month, including vs. Wisky)and for us to come back and steal this when we seemed dead, really takes the pressure off of the rest of the season, since no team remaining can lower our KenPom, RPI, etc. as low as a loss to Rutgers would have.
We have two close, tough losses to Butler and Notre Dame, and now a grueling, come from behind victory over the worst team in the conference. The outcome is all that matters. Whew.
That is correct! Looking back on this year, we won't look back on IUPUI, Houston Baptist, Chicago State, and this game. These are the games that we won which now don't look bad but could have been disastrous.
We won't have a loss to a team with an RPI below 100. That WILL stand out this year.
We did NOT deserve to win that game by any stretch. And I think anyone who has watched Northwestern basketball for longer than this year can tell you we have MANY MORE of those to go in our favor to make up for years of heartbreak.
