Nuts is a good dude, but clearly he is wrong on all of this. I think we got to the root of the issue. Not sure why he would pick one of the most winning programs at the University the last 4 years to try and make some Donnigan point, but it is what it is. He's let his feelings get in the way of reality.

All long time fans of Rutgers sports should be given a trophy for endurance and fortitude in the face of impossible odds.
Being a 40 year fan of Rutgers sports can leave you jaded and depressed. We all want the teams to win and have some respectability. Unfortunately the University did not seem to share that goal from apathy to outright hostility to athletics from the faculty ot the Rutgers 1,000 . Stupid politically correct hires like Herman didnt help. The wins like Louisville in football and our recent wrestling champs are too far and in between. I still have hope we are turning things around but like Nuts I am getting tired and frustrated. With that I would say Brecht has done a phenomenal job despite the recent dissapointing seasons.

Don’t look at the macro. Lacrosse is a sport unto itself with different alumni and focus.

We haven’t made the tourney the last years and that is always the goal. We truly should have at least once though. They we’re deserving. The last outlier game a side, this program has had many huge exciting wins along the way.

The football team getting their *** kicked has nothing to do with the lacrosse team.

I always thought football was going to be hard. What we are competing with are established national programs with massive budgets, incredible history, and schools that placed an emphasis on winning. Their huge fan bases demand it. And support getting it done.

Ash isn’t the guy but until we get full share and increase the donation levels, it’s a tough slog regardless.

Typical RU fan, would rather ***** & moan then to do anything constructive to help the program.

Give me a break. I’ve been an RU fan from birth. There’s not a single sport I haven’t attended game’s of, I worked in the athletic department, have season tickets, and donate so zip it my friend.

I’m not saying anything that isn’t true OR that a lot of others NOT directly connected to the program aren’t saying, either, and I’m 100% spot-on about Cali (whom I’ve known since our days OTB) when soccer was falling apart under DD. I still support this coach and staff for now BUT there has to be some damn accountability. Period. That’s all myself. SirScarlet, and others are getting at here. It can’t be all excuses.

Yep. You are right. I called for Donnigan’s head while he was going 9-40, getting embarrassed by schools like Elon, not bringing in any recruits and the few he did transferred.

The fact you weren’t is what’s highly questionable.

How am I “clearly wrong on all of this”?? You’re acting as if I’m the only person making these comments when, in fact, I’m not. Especially off of these boards by people VERY knowledgeable in the lacrosse scene. You don’t want to admit there are problems, fine, but there are/were no matter how many “reasons” you give for them.

AGAIN - I still support this coach, HAVE NEVER SAID OTHERWISE, but some of you guys just REFUSING to lay ANY blame at his feet, for this season, is mind-boggling.

Also, me bringing up soccer/DD and you is not a comparison of where the 2 programs are at, on the hikes of play, but merely in response to your comments about not being familiar with everything going on “inside” the program. You didn’t, yet you constantly complained (rightfully so, albeit) , so the analogy works.

Wrong. I flat-out stated in Oct 2018 that DD should be let go by season’s end, 2019, if MAJOR progress hasn’t been made by then (which hadn’t and he was....).

He shouldn’t even have had that extra year. The fact you were willing to even see tells us you weren’t thinking clearly.

If that was Brecht in 18, you would have been calling for his immediate firing.

We can just agree to disagree. I’m extremely comfortable with my position and knowledge of the game and program. As are a number of others, whose, like it or not, are the opinions that really matter.

Having attended RU games since before you were born & been donating for just as long, as well as running major fundraisers for RU Athletics for over 15 years, you don't need to tell me anything. Your position, as a know it all in every sport, & your negative attitude towards all RU sports since your buddy got canned has been very evident. I don't need to zip anything since I am not the person spouting off negative nonsense in every post like you !

This is beyond complete ********. I dare you to even come CLOSE to citing examples, from EVERY sport at RU, in which I have been "negative" over the past, let's say, 2 years WITHOUT it being 100% warranted. Good luck, but you're going to fail, in a major way. Have I been hard on Brecht this year? Yes, I have, and IMHO for good reasons HOWEVER - AS I HAVE STATED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO - as an alumnus, and a fan of the sport (also having played on the club team at RU for 2 years), I fully support him at this time!!! APOLOGIES FOR ACTUALLY WANTING MORE FROM THIS PROGRAM because I THINK we have the talent to do more!!! Have I been hard on CVS the last few years? Absolutely, as have most, the game passed her years ago. Have I been hard on Ash AFTER being an ardent supporter of his the first couple of years (after being SPOT-ON regarding absolutely everything involving Kyle Flood)? Yup, as have most. Have I been for the ousting of Litterio and Sias? DAMN SKIPPY, dead weight has to go, PERIOD (look at how well we're doing in sports where changes have been made by Hobbs (other than football)!!! That being said...I have had NOTHING but positive about men's hoops (literally have never said a single negative thing about Pikes from the minute he was “on the board”), women's soccer, field hockey, softball, crew, tennis, golf, and wrestling, in the recent past. Also, as everyone here knows, my good friend was the Head Men's Soccer coach here and I fully supported him, while others incessantly ripped me for doing so (Cali included), until it was obviously time for a change. So stop with the ********.

I love Hobbs, say it all time, and I'll say this too: he's the best AD - HANDS DOWN - that we've ever had IMHO, so your comments about "my buddy" getting "canned" are not only both ignorant and incorrect.

Wow. Nice ******* try to put me down but damn are you off base.

P.S. - I'm not a "know it all" in most sports, far from it, have never claimed to be as much, and if you actually pay attention you'll notice that, for example with Men's Lax, I don't attempt to talk "X's" and "O's" just for that reason. Doesn't mean that other things aren't noticed by myself, and many others, but I leave that for the guys who played/coached the game at a high level. There's nothing wrong with a little criticism now-and-then, even for winning programs, ya' know.

good post,,,i have to agree....not having a winning pedigree at rutgers , and extremely weak support in the past. has gotten us into this quandary....here comes a lombardi quote " success breeds success "....having joined the big 10 doesn't help matters....once we, win a conference title in a least one sport.
then maybe, this will make us feel that we truly belong.it won't be easy, but we are inching our way up in lacrosse. crew, and w soccer.....wrestling, football and
basketball are a long shot in the big....i also feel that softball, and their excellent new coach have a shot in three, or four years....i mean what other
coach can bring in a grad transfer from bamma, with two years of eligibility
remaining,,,,bamma coming to ru...this gal got what it takes. just wait till she has three years bringing her recruits in....hobbs hit a grand slam with this hire.....now for a real softball complex.

I think that is a little bit of the problem. You don't talk x and o's because you don't know the game as well, but then question the coaching around it.

I will exclude myself. There are some expert level lacrosse guru's here. I'd listen to them.

Competing in the B1G, across the board, was always a long term play. We don't even get full share yet. Until we are fully entrenched on the share side, increase our donations levels, get our facilities on par across the board, and increase support levels, it's not fair to compare us to those we are competing with.

MLAX had some natural advantages, but even so, it's still a build to catch up with our peers, which is crazy, considering considering a school like Michigan just started playing D1 less than 10 years ago. Once the new facility is built, we will be close.

I'm curious. What are the annual donation by, for lack of a better description, Friends of RU Lacrosse, and does it include both the men's and women's programs?

I’m not sure exactly but I know it’s increased since Brecht took over. Significantly.

Men’s lacrosse is separate from women’s.
