So far this is one of the most embarrassing performances I've seen. I don't care who the opponent is when a Mark Stoops team decides to be bad they are capable of getting blown out by the worst team in football. I'm starting to feel like no we will never get past this. These performances are just to be expected by a Mark Stoops team. About 4 or 5 times per year we just won't compete no matter the opponent.

One of? Please explain any performance - not just by UK, but by any program ever - more embarrassing than this? Austin Peay is literally the worst program in college football. And they are laying the wood to UK.

The word is out..if I'm an opposing team I just keep running jet sweeps and runs to the outside because this Stoops defense is absolutely terrible at setting the edge and tackling on the perimeter

I don't care if the game ends up 52-7 and someone wants to come back and bump this thread. The way this team came out and played the first quarter is flat disgraceful. If you don't want to be there and put out any effort, take the jersey off and quit.
It was a disgraceful start but they had a strong finish.

It shouldn't take Stephen Johnson to dominate Austin freaking Peay. Christ.

Apparently the coaches thought the same thing, and had to make a fast adjustments------which they did, by the way. The game was another example of how important momentum is in football.

Kudos for Johnson coming off rest to lead us to victory.
He is still not the 100% healthy mediocre SEC QB most here comment he is not.
He runs the offense as a QB, better than the offense was run by the QB the last 2 years.

Want prove? We won six games. And we may win one more or two.

Come on guys..just look how far we've come..Rome wasn't built in a day..coach is building this thing brick by brick with stronger than average recruiting classes

None of those guys know where are what Rome is or was. You're going to have to dumb it down a whole lot more if you want them to understand you.

4 years in, why are they still fragile though?

Several players kicked off the team, injuries, lack of quality depth (though its getting better), some coaching changes, lack of in-state recruiting base. I know some of you think all it takes is a magic wand and a year to turn a football team around, but it's simply not true. This team is better than it was at the beginning of the year and is also one of the youngest in the SEC, if not the country. If you can't see that things are looking up for next year and beyond, then it's because you simply don't want to see it.

That first quarter was embarrassing, but I'm not mad at Stoops for it. He learned from it. Play your starters at the beginning, build a lead, and set their arses on the bench. When you put your 2nd and 3rd team on the field at the start, you're telling your team that this is a glorified practice.

I'm not giving the team a free pass, but I think Stoops explained what happened early....The defense was over-pursuing trying to make the spectacular play instead of doing their job and staying home. All the big runs were primarily cut backs and the D had no one on the back side. As for the pick 6...That was a very bad play by a very rusty QB. The DBs made some plays early or it could have been an ugly game. But other than the 1st quarter, UK basically did what they were supposed to do.
