I'm proud to live in Kentucky, where at least I know I'm free.

And I won't forget that time that Disney blatantly lied to me.

I proudly stand up, next to you and the parents of today, cus there ain't no doubt I love this land, now Disney go away :/

Conjecture posed as fact. And, who is “us?”
Not conjecture. Evidence based conclusion.

Here's a recent study.

"Among those aged 13–17, receipt of GAHT was associated with nearly 40% lower odds of recent depression (aOR = .61, p < .01) and attempting suicide in the past year (aOR = .62, p < .05)."

Here's one from a few years ago.

There's a lot to unpack in this one but social transition (including having changed identifying documents) had a large impact on decreasing suicidal ideation and attempts. It found a fairly large increase in risk during the process of medical transition followed by a large decrease relative to baseline following completion of transition. And this study also gives evidence to what PhdCat dismissed out of hand - that experiencing transphobia vs experiencing acceptance has a large impact on suicide risk.

How is a condition - that requires some serious surgery and permanent hormone blockers less the person who has it want to kill themselves - not considered a mental illness?
Gender dysphoria is a recognized mental disorder. Transition is part of the standard of care for treating this disorder, because medical evidence shows it to be effective.

We do treat gender dysphoria as a disorder. Transition therapy is part of the accepted standard of care for treating it. If you disagree, you're arguing against evidence and against medical science in favor of a dogma.
I have no problem with that when it comes to adults.

I don't think it should apply to kids who haven't even hit puberty though.

No, this is a side discussion that started because people started asking me how to define what a woman is.

I think it's also informative because, as I've said, imo the human mind is more complex than the body and if the body doesn't always fit neatly into our two boxes, it makes little sense to expect the mind to fit neatly into our two boxes.
OK, but that's nothing to do with so many now claiming to be trans & physically overwhelming normal XX people. Net, off track/topic.

Yes. Whenever I hear about little kids being trans I want to scream. Just because a little boy likes the color pink or barbies doesn't make them trans. When my nephew was little and told me he wanted a Barbie for Christmas my first thought would have been "well I guess he likes Barbies" not "well clearly she is trans and needs to start on hormone treatments"

Doing surgery to transition doesn't do anything but further the delusion. Hence why they're still unhappy and still commit suicide at a high rate. It fixes nothing. They are still a woman or a man and always will be so.

It's like handing a lifetime supply of soap to a person with germophobia and ocd.

And what research have you conducted to determine this conclusion?

Their suicide rates are pretty high. Of course libs blame that on people insulting them rather than the mental illness itself.
Yep. There’s always an excuse. Always something to ignore because you cannot question the dogma when you’re a zealot.

Based on those numbers listed above by ukcatz12, less than .01% of the population is trans. Seems like a very low number considering the fuss made about this and the amount of people claiming to be trans.
Not correct. Intersex is not the same thing as transgender. One is when your physical anatomy doesn't fit neatly into the male or female boxes, the other is when your brain doesn't match your physical anatomy. A transgender person can also be intersex, but not all transgender people are.

And if we're worried about doing medical procedures to children, often times parents will consent to surgery on their intersex infants, basically choosing their gender for them.

Is that true? Ganner made it seem like a pretty significant difference.
The comment you replied to most likely does not know what they're talking about. They're using terms like "mutilate their body" which means they are both biased and probably talking about gender reassignment surgery. I do not know if those figures are correct or not in regards to surgery, but the studies ganner posted are referencing hormone therapy and just general gender reaffirming treatment (basic things like people calling transgender people by their preferred name or pronouns, not being transphobic toward them, getting an ID that fits their gender, etc.).

What does it serve someone to have people "reaffirm" their mental illness? I swear people(mostly libs)have lost their minds.

Tomorrow I will identify as LeBron James. If I’m not given a Lakers jersey and a spot on the roster and a contract, they are bigots.

On Sunday, I’ll identify as an 11 year old and kick the **** out of the local Little League team. If you don’t support trans generational, you’re a bigot.

If I believe it, I demand you participate in it.

If their "brain doesn't match their physical anatomy" then they aren't going to be happy no matter what unless they learn to control their emotions.

The problem is that Disney first came out and said they weren’t going to take a side. Then a very small percentage of the employees complained and they acquiesced to “their” demands. Now they have done a 180 and if they aren’t careful they risk alienating a much larger percentage of their customers.

Of course they probably feel like “give it time and no one will remember this”. However, while I am very small percentage of their base I have canceled my Disney+ and I have also sold off all of my Disney stock, of which I held in the low 5 figures. Not nearly enough for them to care, I realize. It may have been a mistake long term but a risk I’m willing to take. If DW KIDS starts to make some inroads, well who knows. Thank you to all of the LADIES/GENTLEMEN/BOYS/GIRS listening

Ftr I'm in no way against adults living their lives however they need to find that peace and as long as it's not infringing on others.

But you have to be willing to discuss the pros/cons. Anyone wanting to sexually transition is already in a category of higher risk for suicide. Where I see this may be more feels good rather than fact-based science is the treatments are drugs or surgery which easily allow for drug companies or doctors to put greed ahead of what is right for the person. We haven't cured mental health issues with drugs. I'd go as far as saying it's become a crutch of our society and an easy way out for doctors. Just give everyone pills.

In this country, we flat-out suck *** at dealing with mental health. It's one of the toughest issues to handle and now that we've added more to the list from ridiculous and completely ignoring long-term consequences covid mitigation, it will likely be even worse.

Trans people are going to still commit suicide at higher rates than the general population with these treatments or not because they're not actually addressing what is going on in the brain. It's become a means to enable it.

Out of 5107 trans women (median age at first visit 28 years, median follow‐up time 10 years) and 3156 trans men (median age at first visit 20 years, median follow‐up time 5 years), 41 trans women and 8 trans men died by suicide. In trans women, suicide deaths decreased over time, while it did not change in trans men. Of all suicide deaths, 14 people were no longer in treatment, 35 were in treatment in the previous two years. The mean number of suicides in the years 2013–2017 was higher in the trans population compared with the Dutch population.

Conclusions

We observed no increase in suicide death risk over time and even a decrease in suicide death risk in trans women. However, the suicide risk in transgender people is higher than in the general population and seems to occur during every stage of transitioning. It is important to have specific attention for suicide risk in the counseling of this population and in providing suicide prevention programs.

If you're not a little skeptical when you see "all these agencies agree" after seeing that be used to gaslight and manipulate us through covid then not sure what to tell you. It's not to be trusted.

FFS the American Academy of Pediatrics said they didn't believe masks affected child development and almost immediately after say they haven't studied it.

To me, this is where we are after decades of higher education aiming to water down degrees in the name of equality and inclusion. We have more underqualified people now that probably have no business being in their positions but they check some boxes outside of their skill set.

I just wish it wasn't at the expense of children; who will suffer the most.

There is a lot to unpack in incomplete research applied generally in a broad manner. I know that women transitioning to men who receive testosterone treatments get a rush. That would be true for any woman, not just someone “transitioning.” Testosterone provides a chemical change that can be dramatic for women. The short term “fix” is not conclusive AND, to the point of my response to your incredibly general statement, using this understanding on prepubescent kids is dangerous. Undoing the damage can be impossible. Generalizing a short term decrease in identified depression to kids who are questioning their sexual identity prior to puberty is some scary ****.

Not really. They don't talk about the countless that have transitioned then regret it and then go on to commit suicide. They also minimize the effects of puberty blockers. It's a one way conversation you agree with or are labeled a bigot.
Yep. It's pure zealotry. They lose their minds when someone disagrees with them and never question their cult. They're no different than the insane reactions you'd get from a Scientologist or a hardcore Muslim. The world is completely black and white; no context is needed, no questioning allowed. They have one view on all topics, that's the view across the board and they're self righteous about it as well. If you don't do this, you're bad. If you don't think like us, you're bad. If you don't get four shots and wear multiple masks, you're a bad person and I hope you die! If you don't support Ukraine, you're a bad person. If you don't want someone manipulating your child and talking about gay sex behind your back, you're a "bigot."

It's the constant appeal to authority. There is no independent thinking. It's all outsourced to self-identified "experts" and bureaucrats. It's pure laziness and ignorance to constantly wait to be spoonfed the daily talking points and feelings about the topic. They are incapable of not conforming to groupthink or questioning their political master's narrative.

The left is against a meritocracy because a meritocracy doesn't produce the desired results of an ideologue which is why they constantly seek to lower the bar, abolish a measuring system, and try to mandate their will with garbage hires.

There is a lot of social pressure, especially in the lesbian community, to transition. The research shows that long term depression is not dramatically impacted by transitioning and for those who deem it ultimately a mistake, it can be devastating.

I’m sure that University or government funded studies would totally be straight up and honest regarding their findings on a politically nuclear topic for the left and in no way would manipulate or misrepresent the study, data, variables, or conclusion.
No, of course not. Just like Pfizer is totally not about the money and would totally police themselves and be impartial about their findings that may risk the end of the gravy train.

Sexual discussions should not be had with any child until they reach a certain age. Those discussions should happen at home, not at school.

Once they're the age of sexual activity, I see no issue in sex education in school but the content limited to state interests such as pregnancy and STDs. Anything else off limits due to lack of legitimate state interest.

Two final things: 1) anyone who says their young child is transexual or pansexual really needs to be evaluated. No child should be anything sexual. They're a child. 2) raising hell because you can't talk sex with kindergarten kids is beyond creepy

So either Joe Biden believes this junk is ok or he is being run by others (and our country is being run by others) who approve of this junk. Either scenario if I voted for Joe Biden, I think I would be pretty upset, disturbed, and would like my vote back. I don’t believe that anywhere close to 50% of Americans (or whatever % of votes he got) is ok with this.
Yeah, I’m really disappointed he’s pushing this. 1980 Joe Biden would punch 2022 Joe Biden in the face.

This Disney vs Florida is not over. It may be just beginning. When they pushed DeSantis they pushed the wrong man and the wrong State Legislature.

How many of you know when Disney World was being established , Governor Claude Kirk, pushed through the Reedy Creek Improvement Act of 1967 which gave Disney Corporation special privileges. Disney is in two counties, Orange and Oceola, but answers to neither. The act provided Disney could establish their own government that can levy taxes, zone , manage their own property set up a police force and fire department and everything else a city or county government does. And answer to nobody.

So the State of Florida can repeal the Reedy Creek Improvement Act of 1967 and bring Disney to the world of 2022. They are no more important today than any other resident of our state. In fact they may be less important. Bring it on Disney, if you want to lose it all and cut off your nose to spite your face.

I have a buddy that lives in Tampa, he absolutely hates the Disney corporation. Says they weld way too much power, maybe DeSantis is the one to stop some of it.
