The best thing about it? The entire Altoona field house full of all 26 actual real wrestling schools, rooting against McCort. All day and all night. Every match. It was beautiful. Even more beautiful was listening to these BEA guys talk with love and respect for Coach Q, AND mix in pure McCort hatred for every match. Personally I love it because I detest McCort and everyone associated with them.

I remember the first District 6 tournament I went to. It was back when Eric Brugel wrestled for State College. I walked in late and it was Elbow to elbow everywhere except the far left corner...which had a good many empty seats. I sat there and soon discovered why. It is where the Phillipsburg-Oceola crowd sat. Wow....they were loud and they could stomp their feet through the entire event. My butt was vibrating most of the evening and I didn't need to spend a single quarter. Ahhh....the memories. :)

I love Coach Caslow: One of the greatest coaches, and more importantly greatest men, in Pennsylvania high school history. I know first hand that he absolutely dislikes everything that McCort is about.

Is Caslow still coaching at PO?

As an Altoona wrestler being introduced in the district finals in Altoona I expected a nice round of applause in my finals match versus a State College wrestler. It’s my hometown for crying out loud. I had nearly 10 family members in the stands. I was wrong.

No, at least not as head coach. Brad Pataky was PO head coach for a while after graduating from PSU, but has since left too.
I was going to say that Caslow may be the longest tenured HS coach ever if he is still at PO.

Coach Caslow retired but still drops in the rooms at both P-O and neighbors West Branch. Keep an eye on WB freshman 114 Will Edwards, who just won the D6 championship as a freshman. Unusually long and excellent in scrambling.

I heard this from quite a few people who either attended or participated.

Justin Fye is the coach with help from Tim McCamley and a few others. Justin is a school principal and will not be allowed to coach next year.
Tim McCamley is a name I haven’t heard in 50 years. I wrestled him when he was at PO, back in the old Junior Olympic days. As I recall, it did not end well for me.

Tim was the junior high coach through the 80s and 90s. He took the varsity job when PO screwed around and lost Mike Maney as their coach.

The last I heard of Tim he was dating one of the cheerleaders from my HS. I learned years later at a HS reunion that she’d married Bruce Parkhill. Life is strange.

Didn't end well for anyone else either who wrestled junior Olympics against any kid from P-O. Best coached kids in the state at the time in my opinion. I lost consistently to every P-O kid I wrestled until I finally got a win in 9th grade 😂

As a proud PO alum, this warms my heart.

Another thing I remember along with the PO fans passion for their wrestlers...was the absolute venom they had for anyone from Bald Eagle. Yes...there was cheering when someone from State College or Altoona got beat, but for Bald Eagle...they cheered during and after as if it was one of their own wrestlers winning. Very enlightening :)
