In states using "districts" as opposed to "conferences," how frequent is a public-private split for the season and/or playoffs then?

Here in Tennessee they don't have a complete split but it weakens the districts though it somewhat got better. When private schools keep winning they keep moving them up until they finally have enough and say we are joining the private districts,The private schools in the private only districts can give financial aid while the ones who play with the public school can't.

I believe in Ohio they have a split Private/Public, but I'm not sure if they have districts or not. In Minnesota I know they have districts and they are all together. I believe they have districts in Iowa as well and the Publics and Privates are together.

In Ohio, Private and public are in the same playoffs

Correct. i really enjoyed watching some of the top public programs (Glenville) and top privates (St Ignatius and St Ed) from the Cleveland area play when I was living there. They have divisions just like here in Illinois based on size of schools etc. I didnt get to see any of the good Cincinnati teams though.
