THERE IS NOW!!!!!! IT’S 2025. NOT 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023!!! HE WOULD HAVE MADE IT EVERY ONE OF THOSE 6 YEARS!!!! 2024 THERE WAS A 12 TEAM PLAYOFF AND HE WON HIS FIRST TWO PLAYOFF GAMES AND MADE IT TO THE FREAKIN NATIONAL SEMI-FINALS!!!
Yet you think we will magically get some super magician that would have also qualified us under a 12 team CFP system in 2014, 2015, 2020, and 2021……at the very least????
So we get Matt Rhule. At Nebraska, he failed to make the Playoffs last year, and he would have failed his first year. That makes him equal to Franklin in his first two years. In Franklin’s third year, he had two bad losses, but still won the Big Ten Championship and went to the Rose Bowl. He would have EASILY qualified for the 12 team Playoff in 2016 under its CURRENT configuration, and gotten a Home game. He would have been a 5 seed and played Western Michigan at Home in the Beav.
Rhule is 5-1 right now with his hardest two games left at Home. USC and Iowa. He should be favored against Minnesota, Northwestern, UCLA, and us. Let’s see if he wins the Big Ten and QUALIFIES for the CFPs this year. If he does, his first three years will be on a par with Franklin’s through 3 years.
Then he will also have to qualify Nebraska for the CFP going forward under it’s CURRENT format in 2026, 2027, 2028, 2031, 2032, and 2033 to even EQUAL what Franklin accomplished in his first 11 years.
Good Luck with that.
