The Bulldogs of Dixon come into the Corral for our second conference game. Both sit at 2-2.

Dixon beat the brakes off WhiteOak this week rolling up 52 points. The Stallions continue to improve their play taking care of Croatan 28-6. There will be NO give-me this year. Sweeping the Coastal 8 this year will be a chore for SWO. However if the Orange Crush Defense continues to be the bright spot I think we will be OK.

I'm worried about this game for my Stallions. Dixon is often horrible, but putting up 50 points even to a bad team like White Oak is really impressive, especially for Dixon. Expecting a tight game, but some schools still fear playing SWO.

The teams I worry about are Richlands and Dixon . Richlands for the 30 year losing streak against us. Dixon for the , What they still talk about, is the almost 90 points we rolled up on em 30 years ago. They both play for revenge.

Richlands finally beats SWO ? It's not a matter of IF it's WHEN. It will happen one year and this just might be it. But we do have the entire regular season to get our act together as its the last conference game before the Playoffs. I did see a little improvement the Croatan game. If the Offence keeps progressing I think we will be OK. Now the playoffs are a different matter .... After two straight Eastern Div finals dont look to be a third as of now. But I am optimistic that we will get better.

Getting back to the Dixon game... The Bulldogs have scored around 150 pts in four games but also allowed 130 or so. I think they have the ability to score but I question the teams they have played . Topsail is the only one that they were really blown out. It always seemed they have the beef and pretty good backs. I always thought if they combined Dixon and SWO we would be a REAL power house.

Also, you really think there are still people in and around Dixon High that care about Southwest or anyone scoring a lot of points over 30 years ago? I would guess given the growth in that area over the last ten or twenty years very few people associated with the school or football program were there then and I seriously doubt that game is mentioned in any type of pep talk.

Southwest will win the game by 20 plus and then beat Richlands by a couple of TDs.

I agree, both Dixon and Richlands schools are probably 70 percent military kids. That number may even be higher. I will say this though, I have some buddies from Richlands who certainly have a distaste for Southwest and their streak. All in all though, the Dynamics in Onslow County have changed greatly in the last 30 years.
