I'm watching the student section react as a whole to the majority of the rock music being played. They jump, fist pump, whatever and seem to know every word.

When the EDM and other stuff comes on isolated pockets react but not the whole.

The music really killed the stadium experience for me. I know I'm in the minority. I cover music, but don't believe I need to enjoy all types of music (unlike most music writers I know). If the music makes me cringe, I stay away.

The during the game music is not and should not be all geared towards student, and it is not IMO…I have no problem with the music during the games.

When the team is in the tunnel everyone is hyped during AC/DC - Team exits tunnel to some rap that no one will remember in 2 years and the section deflates.

Depends where you grow up and who you hang out with I guess.
My daughter likes all that stuff to, but when she's alone or with friends she and her friends want to fly to Red Rocks to see Mumford and son, they like Tedeschi-Trucks, Godsmack, Haim, and down and dirty country.
The stuff you prefer is a diversion to them, just for fun, she enjoys musicians…I guess she's rare!

I'm glad you find this entertaining. And not to worry, from my vantage point this tree sees the whole forest pretty damn clearly.

Zappaa, my point is not that the majority of teens/twenty-somethings dislike rock/country (and I'm certainly not judging/stereotyping those who do or don't), but rather that the majority like EDM/hip hop more at this point.

In fact, many of my friends enjoy and do play classic/modern rock at our gatherings, but ultimately EDM/hip hop comprises the lion's share of playlists. Not many of my friends listen to country (most who do are originally from the south), but to each their own. Even dub step has snuck in and begun to influence new music/tastes.

My original post to you was refuting the notion that EDM is somehow limited to guidos at the jersey shore, and countering those who claim that hip hop is crappy music with a popularity of only a couple of years.

The Wolf of Wall Street song should be our new thing FOREVER, like Jump Around is at Wisconsin. I'm grew up on LI and the Jersey Shore and am I'm 100% Italian, so I guess on paper I'm a guido. One of my best friends said I have a "guido tinge". I attended EDC this summer, but I've also been to Ozzfest, seen Linkin Park and Incubus in concert a few times, Bon Jovi, Gaslight Anthem, 311...I think my tastes are pretty in line for where I grew up and my age.

My iPhone has a mix of all that, but I also have a party playlist, which is nearly all EDM, that I play when my friends and I are trying to get amped up, just like the players.

We can make guesses about what the players like, but I really doubt they are being ignored or overruled.

BTW, Djais has hipsters these days, just for reference, the whole guido scene has kind of changed. It is not cool to be a guido anymore in most quarters, certain parts of the style are around, like EDM, but when was the last time you saw a guy with a blowout?

Plenty of millenials like myself like classic rock, modern rock, and EDM. I have Rush, Chili Peppers, and Aviccii on my iPhone. It is very common for this generation, especially the older millenrials.
