Hyde played some snaps against UofL and it wasn't due to D on the field too much. Maybe he is in the mix too.

Would love to see Elam grow into a match for Pringle at DT. We are loaded at LB and DB next year and possibly in the DL too.

DL is one of the main areas we need to improve significantly if we are to take the next step up. The other is punting (God, the kid was pretty bad). If we get up to at least an average SEC DL production, we'll be tough to beat next year.

I'm not sure how good Hyde is overall - he hasn't played much this year in a position of need - but he basically made the play that allowed our D to stop UofL at the goal line on 3rd down to force the field goal in the second half. Great job of staying low and "crawling" thru his gap to allow the penetration by the LB's to make the tackle for the loss!!!

Now that's its after the fact - I LOVE the fact that we were able to RS TWO DL!!! Hopefully, Looney, Cross, or both are able to help immediately next season.

love the discussion on this topic. Any insight appreciated as I feel this could be the make or break issue for the team next year.

Assuming we're going to stick with 3-4/multiple scheme next year.

DT - Middleton (really had a solid season IMO...after losing Meant I thought Adrian saved our DL ibigtime with his paly), I guess Dubose is the backup or one of the RS kids.
NG - Pringle...Elam who I hope can lose more weight and be effective but don't count on it.
DE - Bell...At some point you have to hope Kenegra Daniel can take snaps with his reputation

I'll include the DE/LB as well since they are on line of scrimmage
Ware improved a ton, we need him to take another step in the run game....then I hope Jordan Bonner really comes out of nowhere next year to compliment Denzil.

We need a pass rusher more than ANY thing for next season. I'm hopeful that our current roster along with our Juco signees will produce a legit SEC QB Sacker!!

Allen and Ware were decent this season, but we need our D-Line to get more pressure on the QB next season!!

Hyde played in our short yardage package ALONG WITH Pringle. Bell had his best game to date. Middleton was very good as was Pringle. Those are our three starters going into the spring.

As for next season the possibilities are:
DT
Middleton, Juco, Dubose, Looney, Q Bohanna
NT
Pringle, Elam, Juco, Cross, Hyde (if he stays)
DE
Bell, P Hoskins, Daniel, J Paschal
Jack
Ware, Laster, Bannerman, A King
Sam
Allen, Bonner, Walker, J Wright

As for the secondary - we could be very thin at Safety to a Juco or two should be expected.

You guessing on Paschal/Wright or do you know something??

Middleton and Bell seemed to have good games against the Cards. Would like to see them get better.
