Up until ca. 2006 we had a chain link outfield wall, which I always liked.
Then they did that wacky screen thing and now we've got the green wall.

Was the move away from the chain link an NCAA or SEC rule? Or did we just decide to do away with it on our own for some reason?

Doesn't really matter, I was just curious.

Our outfield is nothing, if not refined.

But your point is valid. I just liked how you could see all the action from right behind the fence. And from the grandstand you could see the happenings in the lounge. Again, it doesn't really matter one way or the other, I was just curious.

Yeah, that was kind of nice. I've only been in the LFL once but it was good to be able to see what was going on through the fence. I just consider chain link in general a bit tacky, and so do HOAs.

Aren't the fences in most parks about 8 feet high? I don't remember how tall our chain link was.

It probably had more to do with player safety. I know there are plenty of Div 1 college parks with chain link but not at the higher levels.
