Like a 5 spot to pass thru the gate? Would there be reductions/eliminations for people staying at the state park? What does "using" mean?the state charging a fee for using our state parks? I think we should be charged.

Georgia charges. Citizens can check out passes at their local library to get in for free. I wish state governments wouldn't cut funding for public resources in favor of tax cuts for the wealthy which is Georgia 's issue but charging for those using the parks seem to pass muster down here since funds have to be raised.the state charging a fee for using our state parks? I don't know how it would be put into place......I'm sure there are people that can figure out the details. I think that people staying at state parks facilities already pay.Like a 5 spot to pass thru the gate? Would there be reductions/eliminations for people staying at the state park? Here in Georgia there is a "parking fee" to go through the gate at every State Park, even if you just want to go to the lodge for lunch. If you use a camp site there is a fee for that depending on whether it is tent or trailer. Once in the park everything else is free, swimming, hiking, etc. It helps to keep up the parks and is nearly self-funded by the usage fees. Good idea.Like a 5 spot to pass thru the gate? Sure. I'd probably be for it, but would also need to see details. We have to raise revenues in this state.I don't know how it would be put into place......I'm sure there are people that can figure out the details. I think that people staying at state parks facilities already pay.
I think most National Parks charge a fee. I would start with any park that has to be maintained and provides any type of service.State Parks? National Parks? How are you using it? I see a big difference between what I would call recreational activities(camping next to a lake, boating, fishing stocked lakes), and hunting in a national forest in the middle of nowhere, camping there with no facilities or amenities.
Which takes me back to federal land grabs, but I digress.
Not everything is free. Golf is not. Water activities which includes renting equipment is not. Organizations using big parts of the facilities reserving exclusive use is not. You are correct much is for individual use but it isn't an exclusive statement. Here in Georgia there is a "parking fee" to go through the gate at every State Park, even if you just want to go to the lodge for lunch. Got it, I was thinking more on the lines of an individual using the park in a day-fee basis. Not everything is free. Golf is not. Water activities which includes renting equipment is not. The good people are supposed to report all those purchases on their income tax return.Another way for WV to help with the budget problem is to collect internet purchase sales tax. The 10 cent gas tax hike will be a problem especially in areas close to border states like Virginia where the the difference is already 30-40 cents per gallon in some areas.
I think Hard Labor is my only state park golf. At the moment can't think of any others. I don't know if some on islands such as st simons or jeckel island are part of the park system.Got it, I was thinking more on the lines of an individual using the park in a day-fee basis.
Speaking of golf, I've only been to Hardlabor Creek and Veteran's down south. Have you played at any of the others?
That's what many states are doing, but its got its own can of worms. In GA there is a bill in the Legislature this session to send residents a "tax bill" on purchases from out of state sellers. Sellers would be responsible for reporting to the state who would then in turn send you a sales tax bill. That's how I understand it. What a mess that will be! In-state sellers already have to collect tax on internet sales.Another way for WV to help with the budget problem is to collect internet purchase sales tax.

I don't think the island courses are state run. The problem with Georgia's version of the "golf trail" is that the courses are in the middle of nowhere. In Alabama most of the RTJ courses are near a city, easier to get to and usually near the Interstate.I think Hard Labor is my only state park golf. At the moment can't think of any others. Also, when filling out taxes before, you were supposed to itemize anything you bought online and pay the taxes on those purchases then (before online stores started processing it themselves)
Nope, not park of the parks system, but I've played there too. Here's the list. As you can see, they're not in the most convenient locations.Stone Mountain is not part of the state park system, is it? Played there.
I don't have a problem with that...how would it be done?the state charging a fee for using our state parks? I think we should be charged.
Why not have to pay for hiking? Have you ever been to Coopers Rock on a weekend or Holiday.......its hard to even find a parking spot.If you mean something like a day pass for hiking trails or whatever, then I say no.
Amazon has a distribution center in the state. That's why they collect the WV sales tax.WV already collects internet purchase sales tax ... at least it does with Amazon. Pretty sure anyway ... I know I started seeing sales tax charges on those purchases where there weren't any before. Also, when filling out taxes before, you were supposed to itemize anything you bought online and pay the taxes on those purchases then (before online stores started processing it themselves)
How do you make sure you collect fees on everyone in the park? Is there a gate there now that can house the needed staff to collect the fee?Why not have to pay for hiking? Have you ever been to Coopers Rock on a weekend or Holiday.......its hard to even find a parking spot.
I'm playing in a tournament this year at Arrowhead Pointe this year. Thanks for posting. I'm in a boring corporate meeting needing any distraction.Nope, not park of the parks system, but I've played there too. Here's the list. As you can see, they're not in the most convenient locations.

I always got a kick out of them trying to collect use taxes on the IT-140.
Thats above my pay grade.....I'm sure they can figure it out.I don't have a problem with that...how would it be done?
Ugh. I wish Amazon would test their drone service here, but I know we will be the last to get that service. On a Friday evening I ordered some popcorn and by Saturday afternoon it arrived... by the USPS. Can't wait for the fleet of drones speeding that up even more.

OK ... didn't realize they had a distribution center in the state. I figured they just went by billing or shipping address and whether or not that state required sales tax on internet purchases

I don't have a problem with charging a use fee, but not all parks are limited access, so implementation might be more complicated than the return on investment.the state charging a fee for using our state parks? I think we should be charged.
