IMO he shuts down Wilson and is a game changer vs UNC. What’s wrong with that dude? I never saw him get injured. Am I right? He would have helped vs UNC? It’s hard to know because no single player is a game changer but given the matchups I feel last night would be a different result.

We defended Williams fine. We lost the game because we couldn’t rebound.

If we grab 3-4 more rebounds, we win that game, even with our inept offense. So yes, I think Dioubate would have been the difference. Having said that, UNC is without Trimble for the season and that’s a huge loss for them. You gotta dance with the girl that brung ya, and they just played harder than we did. It’s extremely disappointing given the importance of the game.

Second chance points

UK-5
UNC-22

The answer is obvious

Jelavic grabbed 4 rebounds in 24 minutes, Thats brutal.
Garrison grabbed 1 rebound in 9:19. Thats BS. Completely unacceptable,
Heck, Noah played 13 minutes and didn't get a single rebound. You scared?

There are several "what iffs" that could of changed the outcome. Bottom line, our defense was solid and we had every chance to win, in spite of our rebounding and terrible offense. We had that game won, without doubt but didn't rebound, didn't drive the lane enough and just couldn't throw the ball in the ocean to close it out. NC out hustled us for loose balls and rebounds.Everyone calling to bench Garrison has been pretty quiet today. He was on the bench for the last 13 minutes of the game while we were in the driest scoring spell in 8 years.... Don't try to argue with facts.

Since we only lost by three any of the missing players could have made a difference.
Or the ones we had available could have played better.

That’s what made this game so bad: we had every opportunity to blow out UNC but went over 10 minutes without a field goal. Even worse is Pope just watched and never bothered to call a timeout.
Yeah I dont get that at all. No timeout to regroup and get a play called to get a bucket. No adjustment to pick up the pace such as some pressure and meaning real full court pressure since we were better in transition last night.

Also enough of the full substitution scheme 5 minutes into the game. Everytime he does that the opponent goes on a run. I want Pope to succeed badly but he seems determined to keep doing the same crap that isn't working. Maybe our guys were tired because they are used to only playing 20 minutes a game 🙄 . Just maddening.

We had 3 starters out. 3 starters. We had no pg, no rebounders or interior defenders. Any of them play we win. We will not be what we want until they all play, especially JQ. he is more than a lottery pick

No because he can’t shoot and pope would tell him to shoot 5 threes and we would be 1-18 instead of 1-13 maybe he would’ve had 6 pts 5 rebounds somewhere along those lines but jelvic didn’t do a bad job really.

The second answer is correct shoot 7-18 like a normal”shooting team” and you win by 10 like you should’ve . That’s around 38% that’s what pope looking for we have none of that

Lowe getting surgery that’s like a 90% chance jq might play 8-10 games . If we were that good we’d would’ve adapted and that deep of a roster like pope said . They would’ve found a way to win . This is Kentucky figure it out unc didn’t have there pg . Mo hasn’t played well either all season Lowe wasn’t playing regardless he doesn’t shoot. This team can’t shoot PEIRD that’s why we went over 10 mins without scoring we should’ve lost by 30 if unc was that good

Probably so.

Why? We lost by 1 basket, just one. Yes Jelavic (& Williams) did a good job defensively on Wilson (5-19). Dioubate is also known for his defense, so maybe he could have too. But those 2 (J & W) also shot a combined 4-10 for 8 pts & 7 reb in 40 minutes. Dioubate average 8.5 reb per30min, he has made 84.6% of his 2's. Sure he is 1-11 from 3 (very bad), but in that game Jelavic & Williams combined 0-5 from 3 so he couldn't have done worse in that area. Meanwhile Wilson had 12 boards in 35 minutes.
So yes, I think there is a good chance we win if Dioubate had played, made 1-2 more shots than J&W, or gotten a couple more defensive rebounds (which UNC got & turned into points).

I agree that shooting is a weakness with this team. I was saying that back in the summer. But it doesn't have to be a huge factor. If we rebound decently, we win that game vs UNC despite making 1-13 from 3.
I agree that I'm not expecting many if any games from Lowe. One more tweak of the shoulder & he's probably done.
JQ though, I expect more than 8-10 games. It is crazy to think that Pope brought him in, possibly preventing us from adding someone else, with the expectation that he would play less than 8-10 games. And Pope has stated many times how JQ has progressed much faster than they expected. So I would be surprised if he wasn't on the floor our 1st SEC game (Alab Jan 3), and think it more likely he is ready by Dec 20 St Johns game than that he won't be ready before Feb (our last 9 regular season games are Feb-Mar).
Mo has played well, maybe he has not met overhyped-expectations, but he has played well. His per30min stats are 17.1 ppg (1st), and 8.5 reb (3rd but only 0.1 away from 2nd), and he has made 84.6% of his 2's, making 62.2% overall, and 78.6% from the FT line. He is also 2nd in Blks (0.8/gm).
