No, glad he is gone. But we completely botched his replacement and that will cause unnecessary embarrassment anytime Cal has some success. Mitch failed miserably.

I know its easy to bag on Pope
but two things to me
so far we don't have an Oakland, St. Pete or 9-17 year with Pope
and, until confirmed otherwise , Pope is willing and wants to improve. Cal was comfortable insulting the fans, telling the AD what he was and wasn't going to do, and making everyone mad at him from Phil Knight to Joe Craft to every SEC referee
so I would debate about being worse off. To get to the SEC title game Arkansas had to face Oklahoma and Ole Miss so I'm avoiding talking about Calipari making a comeback.
He was told by Barnhart that he was going to watch his practices and he left immediately like a coward since he's a control freak and doesn't like to be questioned.
This version of Cal was not coming back as long as he was in Lexington. That's just how life works.

I will say it, Calipari is HOF . He just proved that he can still win If he has the right players . Last year and this year Calipari would have super teams at Kentucky. His ability to recruit is unmatched, His ability to coach is not great but superior to what our current coach can deliver.

Like is said if he was winning he would never have left here. He needed a fresh start and so did we. It was going nowhere here, its not like we didn't give him several years.
I’d take him back in a heartbeat. Posters can be prideful if they want, but I can admit I’d rather see my team win than watch Mark Pope’s sorry excuse for teams lose double digit games every year

The 9-17 season was heavily regulated by Federal Law and a Governor that had his head up his a**!
I was tired of Cal and his arrogance and stupid interviews, not to mention his one and done factory. Now, since NIL/portal, he has holdovers like Wagner, Richmond, and veteran transfer players like Thomas, Brazile, Ewen. Pringle. He only has one player who is a one and done in Acuff ( who is his best guard in a long time). Wish NIL/portal had happened before he left here. I don’t miss his coaching but do miss the players he drags in.

It was time for Cal to leave UK. But, he’s still 1000x better than Pope.

Tired of all this "ran him off" He went and visited the chicken people. That alone was breach of contract.
I don’t miss Cal. But I respect Cal. I regularly still watch games from all of our previous coaches. I’m glad we have Pope and I’m looking forward to better days.
