Recruiting is whole new ball game now than ever before. Some coaches are good at negotiating, some are not. They weren’t built to be business savvy. I would categorize Pope as the latter.

My guess is Pope is 100% spreading himself too thin and I think it's to the detriment of both coaching and recruiting/NIL. Pope and the staff need to focus on the coaching aspect. We need someone who is intimately acquainted with budgets, JMI, contracts, recruiting, and shaking hands who can take all those responsibilities from the staff.

Pope looks haggard to me. I think he's feeling the pressure and he's struggling to balance everything because he wants to do everything all the time. One thing we heard from BYU fans is that Pope is relentless. I suspect he's even more relentless now that he's here and the expectations both internally and externally are significantly greater. Can't do that. The job is too big, and this is a new age of "college" athletics. One of the marks of a great leader is knowing when and how to delegate.

Mark Fox was a “scratch back” hire. He was brought in because he got Mark his first job.

That was the first mistake Mark made is he broke a huge Saban rule. You don’t hire friends you hire talent.

It really does appear Mark thought he would walk in or send anyone into the room and the players would collapse and sign.

Mark Fox looks like the wolf of wallstreet out there. Baller plays, such as, paying BG 3 million dollars to return. I have the uptmost faith in him. He's killing it. And don't look now, but our JMI deal is looking better by the day. Lots of fun times coming to UKBB. With a strong patnership between COACH Mark Fox and JMI!

Absolutely UK men's basketball needs a GM to handle the negotiation details with NIL/JMI. Someone who understands what the market value is for these players.

It will take YEARS for Pope to get up to speed. I can only hope he resigns after the season “to spend more time with his family” or some other excuse. Just go.
If we had a competent AD he would have already addressed the GM issue and hired a killer negotiator. En tu suenas.

I would say yes, Coaching a major college basketball team is more than a full time job, also trying to handle recruiting and the money is also a full time job.

Yes. Coach ball and target recruits to build rapport but let a shrewd business man close these deals.

Also, restructure the JMI deal for a trial basis to determine their ability to handle this monumental task.

Mitch has proven time and time again he's incapable of negotiating in good faith. Huge buyouts and contracts structured for the long term w/o evidence it will favor UK. Dude is lining his and his cronies' pockets. He simply lacks due diligence on business matters.

We need to have everything so well handled from an NIL and administrative level that the coach can focus on coaching. No matter who is on the sidelines, I want them to be able to focus some on scouting, recruiting, and coaching. Heavy emphasis on delegating much of the scouting and recruiting, but all-out on gameplanning, tactical coaching and big picture stuff. We are asking our coach to wear way too many hats and that will not work.
