If so, whatcha packin?

Today I have the Kershaw Cryo. Chinese made with Chinese 8Cr13MoV steel. $25 knife. I like it with a lanyard instead of the pocket clip b/c it feels really good in hand with the clip removed. Very thin handle profile.

Used to always carry a Case. Usually a electrician's knife with a flat head screwdriver inside. I don't now since I started working in the school system.

I alternate between a Ken Onion Leek and a generic Case three blade that my dad bought me.

To be honest, the Case is probably the better option but it doesn't have a pocket clip. Much more gentlemanly, though.

A guest at my hotel gave me a really nice pocket knife, but I don't carry it because I don't want to get it dirty o_O

Everyday, usually a 3.5" Sog lockback.

I keep a 7" Morakniv in my center console and an 11" field knife in my truck as well that I use at the farm regularly.

I have about a dozen pocket knives and about a half dozen fixed blade knives. I also have a set of high end kitchen knives that I keep razer sharp.

I'm a blade dork/snob.

I like every single thing about this post, especially the Mora love. What better value?

Honest question... are you serious? No pocket knives allowed?

Benchmade Adamas or Griptilian, depending on what I'm wearing
I, too, am a Benchmade fanboi. My personal fav is the 707. IMO, it is the perfect pocket knife (size, weight, quality, blade steel and shape relative to cost).

Whittaker's, man. Authorized dealer, their prices run about 15-30% cheaper than internet prices. They have a min Presidio Ultra AUTO with black blade in the case right now for $139! Sequel, North Fork = $110.

My daily carry Sog is the Sogzilla, it's a cheaper one but I took the clip off and it's very thin, light, and sturdy. I am a contractor so I use it constantly. Some days I'll carry a Kershaw, CKRT, or a Gerber depending on what I'll be into or how dull the other ones are.

I actually need to break out the Arkansas stone right now. Got a couple of pretty dull blades.

I like this knife for EDC at work and/or around people. It's fast, small, light, attractive, clip carries deep and it has wooden scales. The wooden scales and small blade seem to cause less of a reaction when you whip it out.

We could do a whole thread just on sharpeners/technique.

I'm all for gadget fetishes, but let's be reasonable with our hobbies and not make up blanket justifications to rationalize them for ourselves.

I gotta admit a pocket knife would be handy when opening toys with zip ties all over the place. It's pretty bothersome to just grab the box cutter out of the junk drawer instead.

A knife is one of the oldest tools humans have used for a reason. I use mine multiple times per day every day.
You work with your hands and tend to a farm in your private life. I'm a knowledge worker who lives in a first ring suburb. I have no use for a "daily carry" pocket knife. When I am in need of cutting, I use a utility knife.

I am never caught unawares of needing to cut things with a knife, but I guess I'm just a "planner."

You guys wouldn't believe the things they are doing with pivots nowadays, these things called scissors are unreal. Don't get me started on snips.

I bet you all carry Costanza-level wallets as well.

"Blanket justification" referred to a "blanket" covering everyone. The IT geek said it should be as readily carried as a cellphone earlier. It shouldn't.

I'm bothered by hobbyists elevating their choices to essential "means and methods" of lifestyle - their way is the only correct way and should apply to everyone - when it clearly does not.

I don't carry anything I don't need, and I rarely need a knife away from home. And if I ever do, there's always plenty of knife dipshits looking for a reason to use and justify carrying theirs.

Believe it or not, you'd be surprised how many times in a day you could use a knife for various reasons. Until you carry one and are used to it being there, you won't really get it.

Not to mention that little problem called earth and crime, where it could actuality save yourself. But let's not get extreme here, it's rare when a person attacks another person, of course. We have laws against that.

A nice highly luminous flashlight is extremely important and is absolutely under appreciated. Not necessarily for EDC in your pocket (there are some small enough) but to keep around your person at all times, in your vehicle, night stand etc. Most people use their phone, and it doesn't come close to being adequate enough (especially in an emergency situation).
